Title: Darkness - Deep Dive
by Echo the Insane
Type: Ficlet/Drabble-y One-Shot
Rating: PG
Warning: One-sided Shounen-ai, KH2 universe, a bit disjointed, no beta.
Summary: Sora longs for another adventure. One where he can find a Riku who will love him. One-sided SxR, implied RxK.
Riku doesn't see him staring. He doesn't notice when Sora's hand lingers on his shoulder. He doesn't notice that Sora only smiles for him.
He's too busy smiling at Kairi, who only smiles for Sora.
Sora is confused. He's alone and yet not alone, forgotten yet remembered, unwanted yet needed. The bent over tree he sits upon is solid yet he can't fight the feeling he's falling.
Deep Dive.
He looks at the palm of his hand, smiling at the ghost of the keyblade. He can feel it still inside of him, yet he can't remember the last time he called it. It tickles him sometimes for no reason. He's tempted often – like now – to summon it; to hold it up to the sunlight, to watch the silver glint in the brightness.
He misses Donald and his misses Goofy but he misses Riku most of all.
He can hear them laughing as they approach. Riku and Kairi, Kairi and Riku. He stares at his palm, wishing the keyblade was there. Maybe if he jumped off the edge of the Paopu Tree Island? Maybe if he called forth the keyblade and just jumped maybe...maybe he'd end up in another world.
The Destiny Islands are driving him insane.
Kairi is hugging him from behind, laughing quietly in his ear as she asks what he's doing. The keyblade itches again and he wants to scream. Riku sits down beside him and stares at Sora's hand.
Perhaps he understands.
He wants to go on adventures again, to have a purpose again, to search again.
Maybe this time he'll find a Riku that wants him.
Sora's mind is made up. He stands with purpose, brushing off Kairi's arms, ignoring her gentle questions. He walks to the edge of the Island, the keyblade's cold, hard weight suddenly in his grasp.
He leaps and once more is free. As he falls feet first towards the water, a blackness surrounds him, embracing him lovingly and coldly, and he knows he'll have one more, grand adventure.
He looks up as the blackness closes around him and sees Riku, diving head first in after him, his hand outstretched as he screams his name.
The darkness closes in around him, and Riku has his hand. Sora smiles gently up at him and closes his eyes as the blackness takes everything away.
Maybe he noticed those looks after all.
Er, yeah. I dunno. I had this weird urge to write that awhile back (around six months ago) and I just rediscovered it. Decided (after some editting) to post the silly thing. No beta. Sorry.
