Just a spar of the moment. I was listening to the song "under huntress moon" by cradle of filth and the verse "be it sun to your moon, be it moon to your sun, together we promise to come…" inspired me. Not my best, but i like it. Drabble. Read and review.

Disclaimer: I don't own "Naruto" or the song lyrics.

Like the moon and the sun

Once, so long ago there was a heartrending myth about the sun and the moon; a tragic tale of love. The sun used to be a beautiful woman, with fair hair and a face of exquisite beauty. Her eyes shone like crystal glass, luminous and full of life. And she was blessed with grace from the gods.

The moon was a man; A man mysterious and lonely. His heart was in much pain, for he loved the light but lived in the darkness. He craved for the light but he was doomed in the dark. And when he laid his eyes upon the sun, he could not stop his heart from loving her. She was everything that he wasn't. His heart ached from their distance. So close yet so afar, because the gods forbidden him to love her.

He wanted her so much that he begun to pursue her. And somehow the man and the woman run in circles around the earth. He was trying to reach her, but she was elusive and escaped from his grasp. And those were the days and the nights for the rest of the world.

But sometimes he would catch her and make love to her under the starry sky. Men called this phenomenon the sun's eclipse by the moon. But the men of old knew that the moon was joined with his beloved one, for a few precious moments unison.

And Kakashi knew that he was like the moon and she was like the sun. He wasn't sure when he first fell for her. He just knew it. He loved her for the many things that she was. But he loved her more for the things that she wasn't, for the things that she could be but chose not to. He loved her so much it was hurting him.

And he pursued her with everything he had. He followed her footsteps. He wanted her. He tried to persuade her, but she always ran away from him. It was like trying to catch smoke with bare hands; impossible.

Sakura loved Kakashi as humanly possible. She loved him for all the things he could have said to judge her but he chose not to. She loved him because he wanted her for what she was and not for what she could have been. She loved him because they were so different yet so alike. She loved him because he was him and no one else.

But she knew that she wasn't supposed to. It was forbidden. It wasn't just the age difference. There were so many things. Immorality. It was immoral by anyone's standard and no matter how strong their feelings were guilt would come afterwards to haunt her. He said he didn't care but she knew better.

But she also loved him for his determination. Because just like the moon caught the sun, he would catch her. Every once in while they would give in to their weaknesses and become lovers for the night. The world would be falling apart but neither seemed to care.

Now they find themselves together, participating in this sacred dance of old. Lips upon lips. Flesh touching flesh. Worries and troubles locked away. Hearts together as one. Fantasy turned into reality just this once.

He holds her close, soothing her hair and whispers into her ear the tale of the moon and the sun, the damned lovers of the sky. She only laughs at the irony.

"Be it sun to your moon." She says moments later with bitterness inside her voice.

"Be it moon to your sun." he replies back and holds her tighter.

Together they're staying awake savoring these moments. They do not know when tonight will come again, but they do not think of that right now. They treasure these last moments they have until the lights comes up and their eclipse will be over.
