Barry Allen was walking home late one night. It was the middle of winter and the cold air was almost unbearable. He turned the corner and to his surprise he saw Iris sitting on the hood of her car which was parked outside of a now closed restaurant. As he walked closer he could hear her sniffling and he wasn't entirely sure whether it was from the cold or sadness.

"Iris what are you doing here?" He asked. "Are you ok?"

She looked over at him. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail and her dark complexion stood out in the snow that fell around her.

"Yeah." She said wiping her eyes. "I'm fine."

"You don't look fine." Barry said. "Come on, you can tell me what's going on."

Iris' lip started to quiver and tears filled her eyes. She started to cry and when she was done she gave the whole story.

"I had this date tonight and we were suppose to have dinner but he stood me up and I was waiting inside until finally the waiter told me they were closing and I had to leave so I thought I'd just go home but when I got outside my car wouldn't start and by that time the restaurant had already be closed and It's just been an awful night."

"I'm so sorry." He told her sympathetically. "You know what, I'll call you a taxi and we can both go home ok?"

"Ok." Iris said. "I'll just wait here." She went and sat on the steps that lead up to the restaurant.

After Barry had made the call he went and sat beside her.

"They'll be here but they said it would take a while because of the weather." He explained.

She nodded in response. He saw that she was shivering and when he looked and noticed that she was just wearing a long sleeved dress. He took off his winter coat and put it around her.

"You didn't have to do that." She said.

"You need it more than I do." He replied.

Barry was in a thick sweater and pants so he was okay.

"You do look really nice in that dress though." He told Iris.

"Thanks." She responded with a smile. "You know, this night was pretty horrible until you showed up."

"Just glad I could help." Barry said.

Iris yawned and rested her head on Barry's shoulder. He wrapped his arm around her.

"What would I do without you Barry?"

The two sat there exactly like that until the taxi came and brought them home.

"The tow truck company was closed but said they'd come get the car tomorrow." Iris explained. She had called them shortly before Barry arrived.

"Ok. You just lay down and keep warm." Barry told her.

Iris lied down on the couch and Barry put a warm blanket over her.

"Do you need anything else?" He asked.

"No, I'm fine." She answered.

Barry sat down on a chair and watched her.

"That guy must've been a real jerk to ditch you like that."He said.

"Yeah." Iris admitted. "In hindsight, I'm not even sure why I agreed to go out with him. I should've told you about it, you probably would've sensed it would be a disaster, you always do."

"To be fair, you do that with my dates too." Barry said.

"We just seem to have some sort of bad boyfriend or girlfriend detector with each other." Iris said with a laugh.

"We do." Barry replied.

Iris yawned loudly and started to closer her eyes.

"I'm sure one day the two of us will find the perfect people and when we do the other will immediately know that it's right." Iris said as she drifted off to sleep.

Barry smiled. "I'm sure we will."
