I wrote this for the LJ Kakairu Community Drabble Challenge: 100 Ways to Fall in Love. We had to describe the EXACT MOMENT Kakashi or Iruka falls in love with the other.

*******

As the rain continued to pour outside the tent, Iruka remained seated on his knees, clenching his hands in an attempt to calm his anger.

Kakashi grinned at the drenched chuunin. "Iruka-sensei, you should get out of those wet clothes. It wouldn't be good if you caught a cold."

Iruka snapped. "I'm not a delicate flower! I can hold my own, Kakashi Hakate. I might not have the jounin rank, but I believe I saved your ass a couple of time on this mission! I'd appreciate it if you treated me with a little respect! I may be just a teacher, but it doesn't mean I can't keep up with the great copy-nin!"

Kakashi's grin widened. He enjoyed seeing the younger man agitated. "Yes, Iruka-sensei."

"And quit calling me that!" Hazel eyes flashed in anger as he ripped off his vest. A quick bolt of pain shot along his left side.

The smile quickly vanished from the jounin's face at the academy teacher's grimace of pain. He rushed to Iruka's side and yanked up his shirt.

Iruka jerked away, slapping at Kakashi's hands. "Stop! What the hell's wrong with you?!"

"You're injured." Both men glanced down and observed the spreading blood stain.

Iruka wasn't sure which surprised him more: the injury he hadn't noticed or the concern in Kakashi's voice. "Damn. When did that happen? I didn't even feel it." He ran his hand over the spot.

"Iruka, let me see the wound." Kakashi pulled the shirt up again.

"Stop! I said I can…"

Kakashi stripped him of the shirt and was inspecting the injury before Iruka knew what happened. "It's not too bad." After finding the necessary medical supplies in his pouch, he returned to a blushing Iruka.

Iruka hesitated. "I can do it…"

"Don't be a pain. You can't see it all. It curves around to your back." He realized the reason for the hesitation. The scar. The scar in the middle of the sensei's back. The scar from protecting Naruto from Mizuki. The scar which symbolized Iruka's love for Naruto. "Iruka. Don't be so self-conscious. It's just a scar."

Uncertainty was clear in the sensei's eyes and Kakashi felt the increasingly familiar ache in his heart. "Iruka. We all have them. Wear them proudly." He lifted his hiate-ate. "They're badges of honor, earned while protecting our village…protecting our loved ones." He ran his scarred hand gently along the tan face that was anxiously looking up at him. Leaning in, his tongue lightly ran over the younger man's bottom lip, causing him to gasp, allowing the warm tongue to invade his mouth.

Shocked, Iruka stared into the sharingan eye.

Grinning, Kakashi's lips brushed against Iruka's neck, sending a shiver through the chuunin. "Iruka-sensei, I am proud of scars. You could say I love them."

Iruka smiled and wrapped his arms around the lean man.

The rain continued pouring while the two men inside the tent began the exploration of their scars.
