AN: I was listening to 3 Days Grace "Pain" the other day, & thought it really suited Buffy & Spike's relationship during season 6. So, I decided to write a short songfic... just me playing around with the idea! Reviews would be lovely :) & I encourage anyone who hasn't heard the song to check it out, it's quite good :) !
Disclaimer: I own nothing, Spike & Buffy belong to Joss, Pain belongs to 3 Days Grace.

Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all
You're sick of feeling numb
You're not the only one
I'll take you by the hand
And I'll show you a world that you can understand
This life is filled with hurt
When happiness doesn't work
Trust me and take my hand
When the lights go out you will understand
Spike wasn't one for gentle - he had always enjoyed it rough, sometimes with a hint of torture. But, for Buffy, he had wanted to be gentle. He had wanted to show her that he was not the same vamprie he used to be, that he could be human, and most importantly - that he loved her.
Buffy, on the other hand, didn't want his love, she wanted the pain that only he could give her - the pain that made her feel something, instead of nothing. Since her friends had carelessly pulled her from a place of peace, she had felt nothing - hollow, empty, she was a shell of the girl she had once been.
Love, no... what they did together was not love, it was... conveniant.
Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all
Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all
Anger and agony
Are better than misery
Trust me I've got a plan
When the lights go off you will understand
Spike always knew what she needed - without her having to tell him, the way that she preferred it. He knew how to touch her, how to please her, most important to Buffy - he knew how to hurt her.
When she was with him, there was no one else - there was no Dawn, depending on her for everything; no money issues, bills that were passed due and only growing; no friends, trying their best to make her feel normal, yet knowing she was anything but.
There was only one thing - pain.
Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all
Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing
Rather feel pain
I know (I know I know I know I know)
That you're wounded
You know (You know you know you know you know)
That I'm here to save you
You know (You know you know you know you know)
I'm always here for you
I know (I know I know I know I know)
That you'll thank me later
Spike knew he meant nothing to her - maybe the first time, he had held some hope that Buffy would return his feelings. That fantasy was quickly diminshed. He would never be anything more to her than a way for her to release. But as long as he could feel her warm skin against his, he would voice no complaint. Maybe one day... one day, she would realize that there was a special connection between them.
Pain, without love
Pain, can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all
Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all
Pain, without love
Pain, I can't get enough
Pain, I like it rough
'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all
Rather feel pain than nothing at all
Rather feel pain
Until then, there was only pain, because to Buffy, she would rather feel pain than nothing at all.
