In The Summertime
"A little more to the left."
Gojyo grunted. Sweat was running down his forehead and into his eyes, and the only way to get rid of it, was to rub his forehead into Hakkai's butt.
"Gojyo?"
If he'd had the energy to roll his eyes, Gojyo would have done so. But it was hot and Hakkai was heavy, so he didn't. Instead he just hissed. "Just get on with it!"
Hakkai stretched, and keeping his balance suddenly got even more difficult. He hitched Hakkai up and his nose bumped uncomfortably into the other man. He wondered briefly if having his face pressed into his best friend's butt was any better than facing his front. It probably was. Suddenly something heavy landed on his head and he stumbled. He vaguely registered Hakkai making a startled noise and pushing at him before he fell into the grass.
Blinking up from his position on the ground, he found Hakkai hanging from a tree branch above him, an apple hanging precariously between his teeth. The other man made urgent, jerky movements with his head, which Gojyo interpreted as request to get out of the way to allow Hakkai to jump down.
He rolled to the side and sighed. All that trouble for an apple. He glared at his friend and reached out to grab the fruit that had hit his head. He bit into it and munched, waiting until Hakkai had stretched out next to him.
"Next time, let me use the shakujou." He looked over, daring his friend to protest. But Hakkai just smiled at him, seemingly pleased. Gojyo turned his head back, staring at the roof of leaves above them.
"You're odd, Hakkai."
Hakkai didn't comment. Instead he bit into the apple, slurping juice up.
Very odd indeed.
