Thanks to cyko and sugah, who told me to upload this fic first. Also thanks to cyko for inspiring this fic, which I wrote at three in the morning. Wub wub.
A shiver runs down my spine. She's somewhere nearby, I know it. I don't get chills like this unless she's staring at me, which has been happening a lot in this past week.
I smile to myself. I can't stop thinking about her. I haven't been able to stop since she moved here. But anyone who can turn my legs into jelly with just a simple look deserves this much attention. After the explosion, I started thinking about her even more, if that's possible. I started noticing things about her: the way she laughs, the way she likes her coffee. Even, I discovered one day while waiting for lab results, her favorite movie.
I look behind me, trying to catch her staring. We've been doing this since that night at Cozy's: she'll stare, I'll try to catch her, she looks away. And vice versa. Her eyes lock with mine, and she ducks back to her microscope.
I try to get back to my work, but I have to look at her again. Her head rises slightly, and she sees me. I turn around and try to concentrate on my work, but I can't. The hairs on the back of my neck are standing up. My pulse is racing. Something spikes through my body- a small shiver. I can feel her gaze on me.
I swallow and look at her again. She's not looking at me-she's studying lab results, her head bent, the end of a pen in her mouth.
She puts down the folder and reaches for something on the far side of the table. For a second, our eyes meet. She shivers just a little bit and looks away.
I turn back around, a small grin on my face. A few seconds later, I feel it again. A chill runs down my spine.
