-In Arthur D. Lawrence's room—
It was two AM, and though most were asleep, one person in the town of Selphia was still awake, though this time he was actually lying in bed, trying to sleep as a opposed to staying awake at a desk, working on trade ideas and the sort. He couldn't sleep though. As he lay there, his mind wandered off somewhere else.
He began thinking of things that he usually tried not to think of. In the dark of the night though, it was as if his mind was an open book, but this book was of questions without answers. He started thinking about what it would be like if he had any close friends, or if he got a girlfriend, but of course, he couldn't let any of that come to be true.
He couldn't share his secrets with anyone. Once bitten, twice shy, as they say. He was bitten hard enough the first time. He didn't mind sending letters to his father, but that was just about it. He had so many brothers that he hadn't met all of them yet, and he didn't really want to either.
He found from experience that not all of his brothers are quite as loyal or kind hearted as he and his father. Frey and Lest seemed nice…but…he wasn't sure about that either. He was positive that he was too close with Frey already, her asking to be his girlfriend just the other day didn't help the matter any.
He had told her that she would have her answer soon…but he hadn't gotten back to her since. Could he trust anyone, though? Everyone was so…deceitful. He couldn't hold back tears that were beginning to leak out of his eyes. He wanted to trust someone…anyone.
He wanted to talk with someone. Tell someone all the things he always wanted to say. He wanted…a true, honest, kind friend to tell all his secrets to. It was nothing more than a dream, though. It would never happen.
What if it could though? Would he risk his heart getting shattered again for that? Everything was worth risking at this point. So then…his final question would be: What will he say to Frey? He moved some of his blond bangs to the side as he thought. It didn't take him long to decide, because when your heart is broken, there's only so much left to lose.
Thanks for reading, please tell me what was good, what was bad and anything else you'd like to say. Don't forget to follow too, if you want to read future chapters.
