Written for TPE BINGO prompt 'rain', just a short oneshot of what I think Thom and Alanna would have been like as children. I hope I managed to capture their personalities well. Enjoy.

Drip
"No." said the young red headed girl in quite an exasperated voice; she was sitting cross-legged on the floor rugged warmly from head to toe in thick clothes. She fidgeted anxiously and continued to glance out the window at the dripping roof with irritation.
"Why not? It won't hurt you." Persisted a boy of the same age who was clearly her twin, his face was hopeful but had the same look of short patience that comes from being stuck inside for days on end.
"No! I'm not doing it! Will you stop bothering me again and again about doing stupid magic! I don't want to and you can't make me!"
The boy looked slightly taken aback but not particularly surprised. "There's no need to lose your temper, just because you can't go outside."
"What do you mean 'can't' go outside?! I could go out there if I chose to; I just don't feel like it that's all."
"Oh yes you could really go out in that, you're scared of the cold."
"I so could Thom, and I would happily to get away from you and your silly magic!"
"Fine then, go outside and stay out there for a whole hour. Then see if magic is so horrible when all you want is to be warm and dry." Thom had a smug look on his face and Alanna felt unsure, she did hate the cold after all. But she couldn't let him win, and so as usual she rose to the bait.
"Fine!" then she stormed out of the room and down the hall to the door, Thom hurried after her and watched in disbelief as she stalked out into the rain and immediately wrapped her arms about herself and began to shiver.
"Any second thoughts?" he called out the door.
"No." she said stubbornly trying to hide her discomfort.
"Alright then, see you in an hour." Thom made like he was walking away but really found a vantage place to watch as Alanna found a tree that offered some shelter from the driving rain.
Alanna was cold, so very cold. The rain has soaked her through within seconds of leaving the house and she was regretting her decision completely. She wished she could go back inside but the thought of Thom's smug face kept her sitting there. She wasn't sure how long she had been in the rain when Coram came outside to find her; he sheltered himself with a large waterproof coat over his head.
"Alanna what are you doing?'
"Enjoying the sunshine and fresh air."
Coram smiled despite himself, "Don't be rude. So what exactly did Thom say to make you want to freeze in this weather and catch cold? Would I be right in saying it had to do with magic?"
"Yes, and he said I wouldn't be able to sit out here for an hour."
"Why am I not surprised," muttered the soldier, "well he said you had been out here for half that don't you think that's enough?"
Alanna considered, she was very cold and would love to cuddle up in front of the fire, but then Thom would win.
"Could you say you forced me to go inside?"
"Because that way Thom won't be able to say you backed out?" sighed Coram, knowing the twin's games very well now.
"Yes, if you wouldn't mind." Said Alanna looking relieved.
Coram smiled and they both made their way back to the warmth of the keep. As they entered the door Alanna became aware she was dripping everywhere. A maid came hurrying up with cloth to dry them with and Alanna was guided to the fire where she sat gratefully.
"I knew you wouldn't stay out there." Said Thom in a smug voice.
Alanna arked up straight away. "What are you talking about Thom? I was perfectly happy out there until Coram forced me to come inside."
"Hmph a likely story."
"It's true! And look at this fire its warm and it doesn't use magic!"
Walking past the room in the hall Coram shook his head.
"These rascals will be the death of me."
