TPE BINGO Prompt: Sun kissed. Just a sweet oneshot that I could totally see happening.

Disclaimer – I don't own Sarai or Zaimid.

High and proud, they just walked past without a care in the world. The beggar took a deep breath and with dread crawled out onto the path that led off the docks. A ship had just arrived; if he wanted to eat he needed to get some money from kind foreigners landing in a new country. Immediately they were around him and he desperately reached up to them.

"Please."

Their faces became a mixture of pity, disgust and loathing. Their insults mingled in his ears.

"Ugh get away"

"Filthy beggar."

"Get out of our road scum."

"Don't even think to steal from me street rat."

"Do something of worth with your life and don't bother people who do."

Someone kicked out to put a blow behind their words and he fell backwards gasping in pain as he felt several new bruises begin to appear. Shrinking back he sheltered behind a pylon. The last of the travellers were exiting the ship when he heard a very female gasp and saw a face appear staring at him in horror. His mouth fell open slightly, for this was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. She had deep brown eyes, which were currently wide and round, creamy brown sun kissed skin and striking features.

"Oh you poor thing, they hurt you, the beasts," she murmured then lifted her head to call out, "Zaimid! There is a beggar here, he's hurt."

A man hurried over lugging some bags, he had a kind face and was a Carthaki like the beggar was used to. He knelt down and began to gently examine the bruises while speaking soothingly. A cold feeling of relief came on his aches as this Zaimid passed his hand over them.

"He doesn't have any serious injuries, just lots of bruising, and he needs some food or water." The man was now speaking to the beautiful girl, who brought over some bread and a flask.

"I'm Sarai, what is your name?"

"Vamin, why are you..?" he gestured helplessly at the food and water.

The girl's eyes flashed with anger, "Because I can't stand when people hurt other simply because they see them as being a lower person. If you come with us we can get you some more food, and maybe help you find a place to sleep."

Zaimid's face crinkled in amusement, "Sarai we have barely stepped off the boat and you are already adopting people, in this fashion we will have to buy a larger house." Sarai smiled at him with an expression that was all love.

"It would be an innovative way to find servants..."

The young man laughed, "This is true," he turned to the beggar, Vamin, "Come with us, we are making a new start here, I don't see why you can't join us."

Vamin hesitated before smiling, and the trio walked off the dock, the whole of Carthak lying ahead of them.
