I do not own Naruto, or anything related to Naruto.

This is just random thought I had one night when I could've been doing something productive, like sleeping. You don't have to like it.

The most viscious battle ever held between two shinobi has reached its climax. Naruto and Sasuke are both worn out and ready to fall. Naruto's not sure how much longer he can stand. Sasuke knows that he's almost reached his own limits, and knows his eyesight is almost gone. Both men (because they both stopped being boys a long time ago) prepare a final assault on the other. No one wanted it to end this way. The Leaf Villagers can't do anything but look on as the two most powerful shinobi prepare to finish each other off. Naruto forms a very familiar hand seal. One shadow clone appears behind him. Naruto begins to form a Rasengan. Meanwhile, Sasuke is hunched down, forming a Chidori. Both complete their attacks at the same time and charge forward, fueled by the last bit of strength in their bodies and by the determination not to lose. The two collide. As the dust settles, everyone sees the victor. Both attacks hit their mark, but only one shinobi is standing. Naruto's body falls to the ground. Sasuke, his strength gone, his chakra gone, his eyesight gone, holds himself up on his sword. "I...I finally...beat you...Naruto...And now...I've lost...everything...my family...my life...my reason for…revenge...my eyesight...and now...my greatest rival and…best friend...I have nothing...to live for...I'll see you soon...Naruto." And with one final swift motion, Sasuke impales himself and falls to the ground. The greatest shinobi ever to live are both dead.

Fast forward a little bit. The villages are all doing fine with Akatsuki no longer a threat. Kakashi stands at the memorial stone as he does every day, thinking about Obito, Rin, his father, his sensei and now his students. Even though Sasuke's name isn't on the stone, since he was a missing-nin, Kakashi can't help but think of him as well when he sees Naruto's name on there. Sakura walks up to him without him realizing. It's become a daily ritual for her as well now. And both just stare at the stone and wonder what's going to happen to, not just the ninja villages, but the world, now that these two are gone.
