Chapter 1: A Fallen Child

It was a cold spring night in Atlas, a small fire raged between a group of four females one was crouched down holding out a small rectangular electronic device, a scroll typically used for communications in the world of Remnant, another looking over her shoulder at the image of the Atlesian General and school Headmaster, James Ironwood. The night was quite silent aside from the occasional sound from fauna, and the light breeze billowing through the cracked buildings into dense pine forest beyond. This group of Misfits were sent to investigate a disturbance in an abandoned dust refinery, it wasn't Grimm as far as they knew for the power inside the facility was restored.

"Alright you four I want you to be extremely careful, alright?" Ironwoods voice boomed on the other side of the student's scroll having already informed them about the mission details, "...I know I shouldn't be sending a group of first years out but you're the best option we have seeing as everyone else is in Vale for the Vytal Festival."

"Alright, we'll be sure to be careful so you do lose any of your 'outcasts'," Garnet said sarcastically over the shoulder of the teammate who held the scroll.

Garnet Redcliff, a natural quite obscured bright redhead who accented it with black coloring around the top of her scalp, she was fair bodied yet pale in complexion standing at five foot six. Her magenta eyes were slim yet quite rounded to compliment the round and sharp angles of her face. Her nose was soft and small which seemed off put yet fitting in a way as it drew out the snake bites she had, though a pair of piercings mirrored them upon her upper lip. Her usual opt for clothing was a grey pullover hoodie with the hood half worn, a very light gray scarf worn tightly over the connecting cloth of the hoodie and base. Her bottoms were obsidian black jeans with chains hanging near the pockets worn with black and white high tops usually to conceal the holes upon the shins. And for an added effect, designer shades that covered her eyes perfectly. Garnet's choice of weapon was two arched daggers cheaply fastened together to form a two-handed blade which is rarely ever used as individuals. The blades seemed to fit perfectly the aerial maroon designs forming an exact pattern to fit as if they were meant to go together, one would say if they didn't see the military grade duck tape holding them together. The leader was more unconventional with her form of range going less modern and using the frontal blade as the head of an aura made crossbow her ammunition either made by hand or summoned through deep concentration. She has named them conventionally, Eclipse or Perdition. Garnet was the confident team leader of GRDN (Garden) and is highly respected by her fellow teammates she's a sweet and caring person when around those she trusts but quite stern and serious around those she doesn't. This teen is quite the leader every member thinks highly of her and treats the redhead like family.

"I don't quite care for your tone Ms. Redcliff I'll have you know we treat all students fairly here, it is simply not my fault you insist on not following directions." He quickly cleared his throat bringing a gloved hand to his mouth, "And besides if I didn't trust you, you wouldn't be on this mission, so I'll disregard your comment for now..." He continued to drone on for some time about more details which none really bothered to listen too.

"Dude just hang up on him already he'll never shut up," A new voice chimed in coming from a tall tanned brunette.

This feisty female faunus is Melanie Dawkins a six-foot foreigner to the kingdom of Atlas but still quite known. She's a brunette, fox faunus who wears a similar hoodie to the team-leads it is a zip up with large amounts of fur upon the hood. The jacket's color is a washed magenta with the words 'Bite Me, If You Dare.' in black on the front. She wears a similar colored snapback that is usually pushed down to obscure her somewhat glowing purple eyes, and quite obvious pointed canine ears, from constant starring. Her brown jeans were ripped in a pattern starting at the thigh and ending near the top half of her shin obscured by solid magenta and black knee-high boots. The only real issue with Mel was her small tendency to overly enjoy battles with other female fighters and loot easily removed clothing, sometimes not so easily removed to remind her of pretty faces, it was a sort of habit of hers after an incident in her childhood which shall not be mentioned at this time. Melanie's weapon of choice is a pair of tonfas about as thick as one's arm bladed along the edge and locked upon bracelets to keep them from falling and to have space to carry other pieces of equipment or looted clothing. Its ranged mode is only accessible when the two pieces are brought within close proximity and lined up causing the two to interlock and widen to a long barrel split down the middle forming an experimental rail gun, of her design, not as explosive tungsten rounds forced forward by large magnets hidden within the steel interior. The shadow ridden brunette named her loving pair Devil's Ashwood.

"Like seriously G he's still going off, it's like he's a robot." She extended both arms forward with the full intention to hang up.

"Hands away from my scroll, thank you..." The redhead answered while smacking away her teammate's hand, "Don't need you going through my pictures now." She finished off with a snicker knowing that it was a major tease to her shadowy friend.

"Come on don't be like that to her you know how she is around women!" One of the others screamed while fighting off the approaching Melanie using their hands to push her back, with an obvious sign of struggle.

This struggling female is Opal Nevarez a five foot ten brunette who had a similar head of hair to Garnet herself but naturally blue instead of red, the black highlighting had been partially hidden under a beanie making the locks seem bluer than they actually were. Opal had two ringlike piercings along her left eyebrow and one centered along the right region of her lower lip. Her style was fairly similar to the redhead as well aside from a few personal changes, her zip-up hoodie was a deep black with a long paint like splotch of blue lining the back, fluffed near the rim of the hood was white and black fur. The worn scarf was a fair orange wrapped similarly but instead of being constricted by the worn hood it meets skin warming the area. As a top off she wore dingy white jeans that held a long, single tribal design in a dingy blue along both legs, hidden within this design were similar pocket chains of blue. The high tops were practically inverse being white and black but the jeans hung loosely around the laces and trim. Her most notable quirk and most distracting being her resemblance to a certain ice mage from a certain anime, she tends to strip during high octane situations such as the beginning to a fight or the need to intimidate something but has found the limit to only go down to her unmentionables nothing further. Opal's weapon of choice is a rather long claymore with a notch in the center of the orange blade, the thick blade would release in three pieces to reveal a rifle barrel within the pieces fitting nicely for a sort of chitin appeal, or layered armor. Where the notch was a handle to stabilize the high recoil, bolt-action rifle. The punk rocker called her weapon the Heirloom of Whispers.

"Geez is no one going to help me fend off this boob hungry faunus?" Opal kept struggling to fend off the fox now resorting to her feet the keep Mel at bay holding her in place.

"You two are so cute!" A smaller and more child-like voice chimed in helping the blunette push away the fanus using her hands to grip one of the woman's ears dragging her away while the victim whimpered. "Take her to the bedroom during your own time," The small teen snickered out finally letting the struggling faunus go.

The name of this domineering child-like female? Eternal Spring a five-foot ball of emotions. She's quite an easily noticeable person in a large crowd if you notice her piercing pink eyes with her equally pink neck length hair kept looking sort of messy, leaving one longer thicker bang on the left side of her head colored purple and decorated with two green hair clips. A large lighter purple ribbon always tied into her hair near the base of her scalp on the same side simply due to the shortness of her hair. Her typical wear being her combat gear which isn't quite the appropriate wear for Atlas since it wasn't all that covering it consists of three top pieces the most visible being a sun-bleached lime sort of corset/dress it starts at the base of her neck and falls to just before her waist, the skirt has a small split in it near the left thigh and has purple stitching that ends near her bust on each side. To hold it in place the covering uses a black choker necklace that snaps shut with a sort of buckle design and holds a hanging cross in white. Underneath the visible fabric is another skirt in purple similar to the stitching, that runs to about mid-thigh and has the same split. Underneath that is a similar almost lingerie esc dress that is a see-through black and holds to her body with two spaghetti straps that make a cross against her back and ends near mid-thigh as well but slightly longer and split in the same spot. For shoes, she wears mainly shin high combat boots with purple laces that have about a two-inch heel. For almost easy access Eternal uses storage under her skirts for dust, ammo, and anything else needed, for this storage, she uses a cross hip pouch at a slight angle aimed towards her right leg and a bullet rack with enough spacing to house bullets of any caliber and throwing knives. Since she will be accessing the area under her skirt frequently the small teen decides to wear shorts under the three skirts so no onlookers catch a glimpse. Currently, she doesn't have a weapon but does have a book given to her by Ironwood and Winter themselves called Evening star a reference to the very scene Atlas is known for during its spring months, a beautiful distant star that shines so brightly it makes the evening a lovely bright blue yet nightly looking color. The book can summon energy daggers that vampire from the user's aura as a form of ranged way to deal with enemies, but the most interesting factor of said book is the fact it is a good read seeing as it changes based on the reader's emotions allowing for infinite entertainment value.

"Alright quit it you dorks we have a lot of work to do, the lights are still on and I don't know if we should go in. Cause if we wait we risk the chance of whoever is in there escaping with whatever they're there to grab," Garnet informend the team her eyes transfixed on the abandoned dust refinery in the distance. Several windows were lite ever so dimly by the few lamps still working so it was clear someone was inside, the question being was it bandits or something worse. She was so entranced in thought she didn't notice the hand on her shoulder as a sign of comfort, Opal had sensed the discomfort in wanting to enter the factory fearing it wouldn't end well for the untrained team.

"Well, you know whatever choice you make we're going to follow, we're a family after all. One that needs to stick together or be eaten by the cruel infrastructure of Atlas simply cause we're not fit to live in a city like that, to weird." Opal would point out with a smile moving her hand only to rub at her arm in a rather shy manner, a little worried she went too far with the comment. "And frankly I'm ready to kick some troublemaker ass!" She'd shout soon after flexing her arms which would reveal a rather healthy physique one you would expect from someone carrying an overly large two-handed sword.

"And you know I'd be there right behind the team supporting you guys from afar!" Eternal pipped into the conversation for reassurance giddily hopping in place wanting to end the mystery of their mission. After the quip from the pinkette, the team would shift their attention over to their still silent teammate who would look at everyone with a quite frightened expression she hadn't been paying attention and had no idea what was going on. "Seems she's in too," Eternal spoke up once more in a proud voice being one of the first ones to stand and walk down from their perch in a two-story ruin. Following closely behind was the team, each readying their weapons in their ranged mode aside from Melanie who would have trouble lugging the railgun around for long periods of time merely for how awkward it was to hold. It was a slow-paced fifteen-minute walk to the refinery each team member watching closely for any movement from Grimm or entities inside the building.

"Opal, Melanie you two scout the right through the windows if you find anything double back and enter this way if you hear from us, otherwise enter through the back and keep it quiet," Garnet ordered motioning the direction she wanted them to lead which rewarded a nod from both knowing they were a good choice to sneak around. After the two had jogged into the distance the team-lead would look to her partner giving a jerk of her head towards the door, "Let's see what's behind this shall we?" Garnet whispered hunching some to expose less of her form the two would clear the smaller cubicles of the management section the face of whatever company tried to survive out this far from the city when the smaller space seemed clear the two would move onto the larger locker room where the normal day to day workers would prepare and pray they'd make it through the day. The most haunting portion of the experience was the hollow wail of the wind as it brushed through the cracks in the building and the quiet clank of locker doors that had been left open, personal belongings littering all the open lockers in sight.

"What happened here?" Eternal asked her voice filled with worry and her form visibly shaking from fear. Almost as if on cue a distant Beowolf howl would echo through the building from somewhere deep in the forest.

"They say the workers rioted over the miserable working conditions and blatant mistreatment but the emotions only attracted a swarm of Grimm, it was too late for anyone here and in the surrounding living quarters...that building we used as camp. No one made it out..." Garnet spoke quietly, she left out some of the more gruesome details Ironwood explained during the briefing but her eyes spied the markings of bloodied claws against the smashed lockers, the sight sending chills down her spine. Looking back she seemed to only frighten her partner even more, a reassuring hand being placed on the small teen's shoulder.

Near the back of the building, two magenta eyes could be spotted in the darkness the other half of the team scouting ahead for any signs of movement. She had spotted nothing so far just old ruins and collapsed rooms where the foundation gave out from years of mistreatment. Melanie used the shadows to her advantage, blending in and waiting for any movement beyond the glass panes, everything seemed silent for now.

'G the coast is clear on our side, heading around to the back door.' She messaged hoping the team-lead would receive it so the two didn't end up shooting at each other if they met up. Motioning for Opal to follow Melanie lead the way to the door in a slight jog testing the door the faunus would huff finding it locked but what intrigued her most was the dents in the doors bending it to a point you could peek inside from just the right angle. "Well either we're stuck and have to go around...again, or we force out way in?" The perverse teammate spoke weighing their options in favor of forcing their way in and go in guns blazing like she wanted to. Opal would simply shrug finding neither to be the better option after shouldering her claymore she would lean in to help when she got a good grip on the weakened door and pushed her muscles bulging and the metal creaking until finally, the padlock on the other side gave way the rusted iron degrading the integrity of it until it finally snapped. The loud 'clang' as the lock hit the ground echoed loudly through the refinery causing both females to cringe not realizing they'd make so much noise.

As the metal clang rebounded off the walls Garnet and Eternal would dive behind a pillar spying around the corners for the source of the sound the redhead's hands clinging quite tightly to her crossbow, she hadn't fought anything other than Grimm so she was honestly terrified of what they might find but she didn't want to show it to her team. It wouldn't make for the best morale if she was showing signs of wanting to give up. Seeing the coast was clear she slowly crept out from behind the pillar they were inside the actual work floor now, a large open area aside from some conveyor belts and furnaces the large luminescent bars that housed the lights were mildly taken care of only a few flickering or burnt out unlike the other sections of the large building where there was barely any light at all. After a quick scan of the area, Garnet froze in place, in the middle of the room near a skeletal body of what seemed to be some kind of corporate lead/researcher was an armored figure crouched over it. The figured seemed to almost be talking to it if the low mumbles were anything, unless? They had a mobile communicator inside the helmet they wore, but most of all it seemed to not mind the loud noise that came from the back of the building continuing its investigation without any hindrance or worry of attack. Releasing a breath she didn't realize she was holding in Garnet quickly darted into the nearest source of cover catching a glimpse of the figure removing some kind of electronic recorder from the bodies lab coat.

Eternal stood huddled close to the pillar Garnet had gone forward to scout the open room leaving her alone and quite terrified. What was she going to do? Garnet hadn't ordered to do anything yet so she was stuck there worried something would jump from the shadows of the door they entered from steeling the little confidence she had left the pale teen would peek in time to see the redhead waving her close. As soon as Eternal saw the motion she'd sprint from the pillar and hide behind the same cover worried whatever was there would spot her if she was any slower.

"Okay I need you to back me up here we're-" At the worst possible moment the message from Melanie would finally go through the sound from it seemed to be doubled by the empty space between it and the nearest wall, the figure immediately jumping up and readying what looked like a large ballistic rifle thankfully with the sound echoing off every wall it was hard for it to tell where the sound originated from. Scanning the area the figure began to back away slowly it's armored boots giving dull metallic thuds with each step, they'd have to act quickly or risk the thing escaping. Garnet would look at her partner with a sort of 'I'm sorry' expression knowing that it was a terrible idea but she had to know more, shifting to stand she'd jump out from the cover into the light her crossbow aimed right for the figure.

Now within the light and the armored entity now facing her, the redhead was able to get a good look. The figure was easily above six feet dressed in grey layered armor with black accents, red lights, and white insignia/details. The plating near the chest, shoulder, and thighs seemed to be heaviest leaving joints and sockets open for maneuverability but still covered by what looked like some kind of black body-suit. The shoulder pad was a large rhomboid shape on their left arm fastened onto it by what appeared to be an olive wrapping which would cross and tighten to hold the piece on their shoulder with the excess wrapping around the bicep to form what looked like an olive compression sleeve, and a smaller bulky rectangle seemingly attacked by black straps the seamlessly blended into the body suit. Each forearm adorned with a similar armor piece that wrapped around and covered any exposed portion the top visible half a similar grey to the rest of the armor had been colored, and the bottom half usually hugged near the body a black similar to the body-suit but perhaps darker. Two red lights for illumination in dark places were fitted to the top and bottom of the grey side near the elbow, most notably was the feature each gauntlet had, the right brandishing a two-pronged claw for close range encounters and a grappling hook on the left with its own automatic winch to reel the cabling back in with enough force to carry the user with it. Wrapped around the figured neck to conceal the weak point underneath was an olive scarf made of feathers and colored in a way to make it seem like the leaves of a tree or bush. The more intimidating piece of the armor being the helmet a fitted piece meant to comfortably conceal the wearers head, heavily armored black visor with a grey jawline that happened to cover where the user's ears would be in the same material. On either side near the jawline were two white ports used to filter whatever the wearer was breathing, an extension near the left ear was the only other obvious feature a black rectangular box with an antenna extending from it signaling Garnet's suspicions that it did indeed have mobile communications. Decaled on the helmet was a half-Human half-Grimm skull sewn at the middle where they connected, blood dripping from the eye socket of the human skull and from the Grimm's mouth.

"Disarm yourself and leave, this place isn't somewhere kids from Ironwood's school should be, remind the rest of your team to leave as well," the figure spoke in an almost digitalized distorted voice like it was masking the way it talked. The armored entity only seemed to tighten its grip around the trigger well of its rifle pulling the stock of it closer for a cleaner shot, clearly showing no signs of wanting to give up. The two were currently stood at a standoff both pointing weapons aimed at the head, "I will not warn you again child. Lower your weapon and leave I will not hesitate to leave your corpse here to rot like the rest who were here before." Just as the figure spoke it took another step backward purposely crushing the skull of the body it had looted the sight only causing Garnet to regret coming here in the first place her team's lives were now at stake. Shifting her foot some the team-lead was getting ready to dodge putting her weight to the right so when the figure seemed ready to pull the trigger she could roll away and hopefully escape, it didn't seem worth capturing this...thing...whatever it was. Her eyes were ever watchful on its finger in the trigger well watching as the appendage tensed squeezing the trigger in a controlling manner signaling it was ready to fire just as the tension gave out and the hammer fell back to ignite the round Garnet began her roll but failed to see that the figure compensated some but not enough to seriously hit her just a mere graze. Midway through the roll, the redhead felt a searing pain as the heated round grazed a good portion of her arm only to impact a conveyor behind the round exploding with a sturdy support that buckled under the shockwave tilting the large metal far enough it seemed ready to collapse. Recovering from the impact Garnet remained in a crouched position her crossbow aimed dead center for the targets chest without a second thought she pulled the trigger and made a dash towards the neared concrete support, some cover was better than no cover even if the thing did have high explosive rounds her aura cracking in its signature red color as it guarded any damage from the attack. The dust charged bolt fired at the target impacted causing it to reel only slightly nothing more than a new dent to its front plate was the only evidence her attack even hit.

Watching the conflict unfold Eternal struggled over a decision only to regain all her courage, she needed to help her team or risk being useless and letting one die. So with a quick breath, she'd whip around into sight summoning four daggers to throw at the enemy the scatter from her throw causing two to go wide and miss completely fizzing into nothing once the impacted into a concrete wall. The two that managed to hit were lucky enough to hit the armored targets lower half one finding itself into a less protected joint near the knee the pink dagger a beacon of hope as it remained stuck into flesh the other merely bouncing off the armor plating like it was nothing but a pebble. After reeling from the attack the helmeted figure examined the area both girls were now in before a feminine voice was heard crackling to life muffled by the thick layering of the helmet but still enough for the females to hear it as the dust settled, "Outnumbered two to one, wounded and with the threat of an incoming pack of Grimm, recommend tactical retreat." After giving its advice the voice crackled out of existence only to be given a response.

"No these children will be nothing more than a joke to handle," It boomed loud enough for the two of them to hear, the words quickly droned out by the sound of the ejecting casing from its rifle the large caliber apparent simply by the sheer size of brass that now clambered to the floor.

Near the back of the complex, Melanie and Opal began their search the two giving enough space between the two of them for a wide sweep of the crowded research lab discarded machine parts littering the floor as sparks threatened to singe anything willing to come close enough to the broken machine arms. It wasn't until the unmistakable noise of a rifle could be heard deep inside the Refinery did they react coming to a dead sprint towards the work floor. Quickly they came to the sight of Garnet and Eternal fighting an armored figure they were getting ready to help out when a Beowolf suddenly tackled Opal to the floor bending its head down in an unnatural way to try and take a bite from her neck, slamming her tonfas into the creature's spine Melanie killed it merely with the crushing impact kicking the corpse of her partner to help the female up.

"You owe me one again," The faunus would smirk as she added another tally to the total the moment was once again broken by the further sound of howling Grimm a sign a pack of Beowolfs was assaulting the refinery two more quickly rounding the corner towards the two. Now focused on containing the second threat the two were forced to leave the team leader and her partner to handle the masked humanoid, they would need an exit after all and with a swarm of Grimm, it'd be a little hard to evacuate. Between the constant streaming, Beowolf's they'd occasionally look back trying to get a fix on how the other half of the team was handling themselves.

Fixing another bolt in place Garnet hugged the pillar occasionally trying to get a look around to spot the enemy her heart was pounding and ears ringing from the aftermath of the explosive shell indoors, lost in thought she was quickly thrown from it as another round impacted the pillar she used for cover, throwing the redhead forward onto her elbows before a second was heard opposite to her most likely where Spring had been hiding. Garnet would struggle onto a knee a low groan filling her ears at the attempt to stand everything ached and her aura crackled once more though less apparent a signal that it was starting to give out, just how hard did those round hit? She wasn't willing to find out. Launching from cover she fired the bolt using her semblance to accelerate the projectile to a ridiculous speed. Garnet had a control over the velocity of things she could touch should it be a projectile that needed to pierce something or vibrating the floor so fast it let off a shockwave as it shattered sending objects flying this way and that with high amounts of force. The bolt quickly caught the target off-guard the sound of the bolt slamming into the heavy armor echoed once again through the building as well as the heavy sound of metal creaking as its armor caved in only to be punctured, a digitized groan of pain coming from the armored figure before it took one hand off of its rifle to grip the rear of the bolt sticking from its side snapping what little hung out off to allow its suit to reseal a clear sign of red leaking from the wound solidifying that it was indeed human or faunus and not some new Grimm hybrid no one had ever seen. Taking this moment of reprieve to rush to Eternal's side the goth looking teen turned her over to find she was alright just a little bruised where rubble from the pillar had slammed into her though she was partially unconscious all it took as a little more talking before the small teammates fluttered open her eyes her ears still heavily ringing and head throbbing after hitting the floor. Her aura just barely flickered to life before fading before Garnet's eyes making the team lead gasp in horror Eternal was at risk of getting seriously injured they needed to get out of there.

"Garnet get down!" Eternal shouted pulling the team leader onto her just in time for a round to go flying over their heads another explosion rocking the already deteriorating building, quickly both would look towards the armored humanoid it had regained its composure and readied its rifle the smoking barrel angled to just where Garnet's head had been seconds before. Immediately the two lunge to their feet ready to continue this fight, but it was obvious the would not last much longer under the threat of the rifle's ballistics.

"Eternal you need to get out of here...you aura it's down one more hit and it could be your last," The redhead spoke to her as the two once again dove for cover, peaking out she'd lower her hands to the cement and once again push to use her semblance. The ground beneath the figure trembled loudly so much so it nearly threw its balance off till finally, the material gave way exploding underneath the target of choice sending it flying some three feet off its feet to thud loudly against the floor, large chunks of concrete raining down against the armor coating the material in a sheen of dust coloring the entirety a dull grey. Within moments it began to shift and work it's way to a standing position nothing seemed to be slowing this thing down they needed to get out of there. Click! The sound of a pistol's hammer igniting filled the air, it seemed whatever they were fighting drew its sidearm and fired a quick snapshot in Garnet's location before she could even react, she was stuck there helpless aura fading as she used to last to blow the floor under it. Everything seemed to go silent just before the bullet hit like nothing in the world matter but the impending death she faced before her, everything began to slow down the bullet drifting to a crawl, it was all over, wasn't it? She'd die bleeding on this cold warehouse floor in front of her friends, quickly she was thrown from the thought as her body began to forcefully fly to the right her head turning to see a smiling Eternal mouthing the words 'I'm sorry' tears were running down her cheeks. The only thing the redhead could do now was watch as she fell to the floor pushed away from the bullet once again, suddenly the pinkette's head jerked back as she faced the high-speed brass object. It connected with her left eye at an angle fragmenting as it came into contact with her skull the remaining portion curving along the hard exterior of her skull to soon eject once it found the back leaving a larger exit wound. As the fragments impacted the plate of her skull they caused further fragmentation forcing the pieces towards the soft organ they once protected. After fragmenting the tip was left in a deadly spiral towards the pillar behind exploding much like the rifle rounds had been but on a smaller scall kicking up dust and debris that hide the image of her teammate's limp body falling gracefully to the floor.

"Rosemary!" The concussed teen shouted her partner's legal name rushing to stand but quickly finding her left leg trapped under a large portion of the second story floor. Forcing the heavy slab from her leg the leader burst from the cloud of dust towards Eternal but what she saw when her vision cleared was the scene of chaos. Melanie and Opal working together to close the door the had been fighting Grimm from five decaying Beowolf bodies littering the entrance a show of only the partial work they achieved, quickly the two would work after closing the door Opal holding it closed as more tried to force their way in, and Melanie using her semblance to fuse the door together into one large metal barrier in the concrete archway a few bangs against it as the creatures tried to force it open only to end up harming themselves and leaving. The armored figure was nowhere in sight having grappled away out of the hole he created when dispatching one of the two girls. Worst of all was the seemingly lifeless corpse of her partner...her friend, no sister, with a wailing cry Garnet would collapse clutching desperately at her body and begging for her to hang on to not give up hope and stay with her. An airship could be heard landing near the building distant gunshots near the entrance to the building as the automated defense drones Ironwood build took care of the surrounding Grimm quickly a medical team would race forth into the building finding the three shell-shocked teens and their dying team member huddled close and crying.

Without a word, all three would board the airship for the trip back to Atlas not even bothering to watch as the medics did their best to keep the rapidly declining Eternal stable. It was all too much for them...there was nothing more to say the last word to be spoken for the rest of time till they landed was her name. As the landed on the roof of the hospital each remained inside till the crew wheeled Eternal off in a stretcher all three looking to each other with a knowing nod, the wouldn't need to show their emotion they all felt it in the air, besides they were all dry of tears from the flight over. After stepping from the craft the three were approached by the pilot a bulky framed young man who just looked the perfect military type.

"Can I ask which one of you in the group is the Leader?" He'd say in a low heart-felt voice too many times had the same scene unravel but with far darker ends in his assigned craft, when Garnet seemed to lift her head he assumed she was the team leader. "Please when you have the time thank your, teammates, here, the warned us the second they heard the gunfire if they hadn't...I fear your friend might not have made it here," He left the end open cause even the ones who did make it to the emergency care center had a low chance of surviving the injuries they endured, and if they did they were never the same afterward. Without another word he began to walk away leaving the three to do what they'd like which of course was to rush into the hospital asking as many nurses and doctors they could catch what they had done with the recent pick up but each time the team received the same answer, 'She's in surgery, please wait till she's out then you may speak to the surgeon.'

Desperate to find another answer they were just left with no choice but to wait in the lobby finding a space all three could sit, Garnet was worse for wear her eyes were bloodshot dried tear streams littered her cheeks, after about five hours a member from the craft they flew in on offered the three ladies blankies knowing they were still quite shaken from what happened. With a quiet thanks, they accepted covering themselves to slightly warm up. Any onlookers would easily see the trauma they had been in Garnet still covered in remnants of the concrete dust she had been around as well as bruised blotches on her skin and ripped clothes, the occasional cut that bled slightly she didn't feel anything her mind was blank still running over exactly what happened. The other two were slightly better off their clothes only slightly ruined by the claws form the Beowolfs and the occasional bruise from where they were thrown into the door and pillars behind. Another three hours would pass with no sign she was out of surgery slowly the effects of the day were starting to take effect exhaustion was the first to settle in every muscle in their bodies ached, headaches throbbed, and wounds stung leaning back into the seats they were preparing to get some sleep. Opal was the first to go under leaning into Melanie for some emotional support as they continued through this together, soon after the faunus would follow assisted by the warm from both the blanket and the body cuddled into her, normally she'd have an issue with being this close to a teammate for this long but now wasn't the time. Even though her body cried out for sleep the redhead held strong staying awake leaned forward head cupped in her hands, she continued to blame it on herself if they had only left as soon as they saw him Eternal wouldn't be dying or had to throw herself onto the bullet.

Unknown to them the last two hours of the surgery had finally passed, the surgeon had finally removed every bit of shrapnel that had dug itself into her head, and managed to repair her skull partially. Though they had to remover her eyes fully since it was damaged beyond repair they fitted her with a bandage for the moment and would eventually give her a porcelain one just for cosmetic use. While there would be plenty of scarring she was at least alive...barely, quickly they moved her from the surgery to a patient room and hooked her to life support it would be some time before she awoke from the coma. After a mention from a nurse, the surgeon was notified to at least give the team the good news even after the long surgery. Giving a simple nod he would make himself presentable before walking to the lobby putting on the best smile he could for the group that had obviously been through a rough time.

"I'm surprised to see you're still up...I'm quite exhausted myself," He chuckled shoving both hands into the pockets of his scrubs, soon he'd stifle the laugh seeing it didn't have an effect her face was littered with the fact she wanted to know what happened. "Ahem...your friend made it through the surgery but there was significant damage to her left eye and the left hemisphere of her brain. If she does wake up she won't remember much, your friends lucky to be alive," He'd watch her reaction it seemed was tolerable over the depressed expression she had before. "Please do yourself a favor and get some rest, you can see her tomorrow but I don't know how long it will be till she's awake,/" taking a step forward he'd place a reassuring hand on her shoulder patting it gently before walking away to take care of other patients. The news only seemed to deepen how Garnet thought about it being her fault, now her partner would lose her memories? It was all too much, sitting back into the chair she'd curl her knees against her mouth and cry once again, it wasn't long before the exhaustion finally forced her to sleep.
