Love, Loss & Hate
Kiff stepped from his quarters, a determined look on his face. He strode quickly across the polished floors to the Captain's Quarters. In his eyes, a maniacal twinkle of glee. In his hand, a Definit-Kil Zap Pistol, set to "Atomize".
"Please, Kiffy!" Amy cried, following the green alien across a parking lot. "I thought you were dead for good! Why should this get in the way of our relationship? It meant nothing!"
"MY BODY WASN'T EVEN COLD YET!" Kiff roared. Whirling around, his gloved hand met Amy's face, leaving a horrible, deep red mark. Amy fell to the ground, gingerly feeling the area of reddened skin. Tears began to well in her eyes.
"Kiff..." she sobbed. But there was no appealing to him. Turning away coldly, he strode toward his ship. "Don't ever contact me again, Amy. I gave you a chance, and you ripped my heart out." And he took off, leaving the girl he once loved sobbing uncontrollably on the cold, hard pavement...
Kiff walked into Zapp's room.
"Captain Brannigan?" He asked, slipping into his old role of the timid, wet-behind-the-ears fourth lieutenant.
"What is it, Kiff?" the blonde, self-absorbed captain snapped, turning away from his computer. "Can't you see I'm trying to seduce a woman over the interweb?"
"Ah, but of course sir. Could you just leave off for a moment?"
"All right, but this better be good." Brannigan hit the Power Off button. "Now, what the hell do you-?" His question was cut short as the barrel of the pistol was shoved into his temple roughly.
" 'Hell' is right, jackass." Kiff smirked.
"I don't know what to tell you, Kiff." Fry said, leaning over his beer. "You've gotta face the facts here, my man: she was always a pretty big skank-"
"DON'T CALL HER THAT!"Kiff yelled, swiping at Fry across the table. Seeing the look of surprise on his face, Kiff slumped down into the seat of the booth they were sitting at. "I'm sorry, Fry. It's just... I'm so used to sticking up for her..."
"I know how you feel." Fry sighed sympathetically. But no one could know the anger that was brewing inside the alien...
" Y-you wouldn't! What about all the time we've known each other? I even remembered your birthday once! Come on, Kiff!" Kiff shoved the barrel still harder, impressing it into the skin covering Brannigan's empty skull.
"All these years, Zapp. All these years you've spent, taking my dignity, my job, my self-esteem, and now my freaking wife!" Kiff spat the last word, sending a gob of saliva into the eyes of the man he hated so. "And now, I'm going to take the one thing you value above all others, you petty bastard: your life!" His eyes glinting madly, he squeezed the trigger, ever so slowly, savoring the moment...
And then he woke up, sweating profusely, screaming in righteous, triumphant anger. He stared around, unsure of wear he was, before rubbing his temples and slumping down into the mattress. He stared over at the gun lying invitingly on his nightstand. And he mouthed the words, "One day soon."
Yeah, a bit too short. Ah, well. I kind of wish I'd had him shoot Brannigan, but it just didn't seem right.
