Disclaimer: I don't own Death Note

Author's note: This is my second oneshot of Death Note, so I hope you will enjoy it!

Light walked down the corridor thinking of the next step of his plan. He knew it wouldn't fail, even if it now was the famous detective L that he fought against not just the normal police.

He was now looking for L. He had disappeared a few hours earlier and he hadn't returned yet. He wanted to see him before and when he died.

It was hard to look for L. This building had so many stories that he couldn't even remember how many at the moment. But he had more important things on his mind then how many stories the building was.

He found L on the roof. L was standing in the hard rain as he looked at the sky. He seemed to be lost in thought but Light didn't really want to go out to question him about it. He decided to stay where he was.

"What are you doing there standing by yourself?" Light asked.

L cupped his ear with his hand shoving that he hadn't heard what he had said.

"What are you doing there standing by yourself?" Light repeated his question.

L cupped his ear with his hand again and gave Light a playful smile. Light grumbled and shielded his eyes with his hand as to avoid the rain to fall directly into his eyes as he walked towards L. Did he have to make him go out?

"What are you doing Ryuuzaki?" Light asked.

"Oh, I'm not doing anything in particular. It's just… I hear the bell," L answered as he looked up at the raining sky.

"The bell?" Light asked a little confused and a little irritated that L made him go out just because of that.

"Yes, the sound of the bell has been unusually loud today," L said quietly and a little thoughtful.

Light could never have guessed what was going on in L's mind at that moment. Light was almost beginning to think L was a little mentally ill but he was still smart enough to play with him.

"Well, I don't hear anything," Light remarked.

"Really? You can't hear it?" L asked he seemed a little surprised. "It has been ringing nonstop all day. I find it really distracting. I'm wondering if it's the church, maybe it's a wedding or perhaps…"

"What are you getting at Ryuuzaki?" Light asked a little more aggressively then he intended to. "Come on, cut it out. Let's get back inside."

L looked a little sad but agreed. And soon they found towels for them to dry them off with. Then L did something unexpected. He began drying Light's foot and first he didn't really understand. Light almost wanted to smile when he figured it out. It was official, he had won. He was the almighty king and L had become the humble peasant, there was nothing more about it. And L knew it too.
