A/N: 2 years later, I wonder if anyone will even bother reading this...? Anyway, this was the original idea for the epilogue before I decided to end the original story on a happy note. I guess I'll call it a oneshot sequel to Artemis Fowl and the Final Resolution.
"Excuse me sir, but have we met?"
Artemis flattened the barely noticeable twinge of annoyance as he turned around politely to address the speaker. He couldn't control the start of surprise when he saw her.
It was Angeline Fowl.
It took Artemis exactly 21 seconds to return to his senses. He shook his head apologetically as he replied in a cool tone that was ever-so-slightly lower than his usual voice. "I don't believe that we have."
"Well, let me introduce myself," she said brightly. "You seem strangely familiar." Artemis allowed a small smile as he listened to his mother's laugh. "I am Angeline Fowl, and these are the twins, Myles and Beckett Fowl."
"Hello," Myles said politely. Beckett just stared at him curiously.
10 years had passed, and the twins were now 14 years old. They were probably entering puberty, he thought to himself privately, silently chuckling as he remembered his younger self. Myles was clearly a younger version of Artemis himself, dressed too smartly for a mere walk in the park. Beckett was apparently going through the moody black clothing phase. Although he was not scowling, he was very obviously bored as he beat an advanced game on his phone.
Artemis snapped back from his musings as an older man with slightly graying hair joined his mother.
"This is my husband," Angeline said obliviously, not knowing that she was introducing the family to her eldest son. "This is Artemis Fowl."
Artemis Fowl. That was who this man was. Not Artemis Fowl the first, for there had never been a second.
Artemis realized that he had been silent for a second too long. The family — his family were all staring at him. It was very awkward.
Artemis was very relieved when Holly returned with a bottle of water, effectively breaking the silence. He cleared his throat. "It's a pleasure to meet you," he said smoothly, "I am Malachy Pasteur, and this is my fiancé Holly Short."
As Artemis introduced them, Holly scrutinized the people before them. The Fowls did not have any bodyguards, although a pretty blonde woman that looked very much like Juliet was in an intense arm-wrestling contest a few picnic tables away. They had stopped an apparent stranger and his girlfriend just because the couple had looked familiar. The suspicious glint in their eyes — that had been so prominent a long time ago — had vanished completely.
Holly could almost believe that they were a normal family.
Almost.
Thanks for reading~
