Disclaimer: I own nothing.
The way last week's episode ending really tore me up. This is how I think it should have been extended. Just a short little drabble.
"There are rules against this." Tony's voice rumbled the short distance between his lips and the new girl's pout.
Defiantly, she lifted her face closer to the Senior Field Agent's. "No there aren't." She smiled slowly, enjoying the attempt at small talk. It was a refreshing change of pace.
Just before their lips could touch, a cell phone rang. It was his ring tone, but of course it was he didn't think EJ could be hiding her phone any where under her towel. Tony jerked back from her enticing smirk, coming to his senses as he reached for the phone on his hip. "Cell phones always have the greatest timing." Murmuring, he turned away, flipping open the phone. This was Team Gibbs weekend on call, letting it go to voicemail was not an option until Monday morning, 0800. "DiNozzo here." He growled into the receiver.
Not thinking much of his tone of voice or caring to think what that might imply, Ziva rushed into her explanation for calling. "Tony, I did not see you exit the building. As I have nothing on docket for the weekend, I am willing to assist you complete any assignment you are working on as we are already on call." It was as ridiculous as it was fictional. Ziva knew what Tony was doing. He was going to spend the evening in the company of that woman. Well, not if she could stop it.
Sighing, Tony ducked his head in defeat. She was right; he didn't need to be down here attempting to seduce another agent. How in the hell his ninja knew what he was doing would forever be a mystery, but women's intuition was damn near perfect. A sliver of panic raced down his spine at the thought of Gibbs also knowing. "How about we go get pizza instead? I'll meet you outside." He didn't bother to turn around; he could hear EJ shifting behind him no doubt to find some clothes.
A smug smile crossed the Israeli's face. "I will be waiting on you." She clicked the phone shut and leaned against his car.
Snapping the phone shut and burying it once more in its case, Tony turned back to face his would-be date for the evening. "Partners, you can't live with them and you can't shoot them." He tried to laugh but it sounded forced even to his ears.
EL shrugged. "That Ziva keeps you under close surveillance. I'll know better next time. But I wouldn't keep her waiting, Tony." With one last look up and down the toned torso of DiNozzo she turned back to the lockers.
Nodding his head in silent agreement, Tony left his first chance of romance in oh-so-long behind and made his way to his partner.
