The two Summer's women sat in the kitchen with cups of coffee in their hands.

"So how did it go?"

"Fine." This had to be the most awkward conversation in the history of their conversations.

"We should really talk about…well you know." Joyce replied to the uncomfortable silence.

"If you want to." Shrugged Buffy, who really didn't want to have this discussion.

"Not really but we need to clear this up."

"Alright, you start."

"Okay um…well um…"

"Do you like him?" Buffy shot right off.

"I…I don't know I mean…" Joyce stuttered.

"Mom, you wanted to talk."

"Right, I think I do…like him." Stammered Joyce again.

"I think it would be a little weird, I mean my mom and my watcher but I want you both happy." Buffy said honestly.

"Sweetie, I don't think there will be a we between me and Rup…Mr. Giles."

"Why not?"

"Well, he hasn't spoken to me for one and two he…I'm not intelligent enough for him." Shrugged Joyce.

"What! For one you are intelligent enough and two why isn't that jerk talking to you!" Buffy yelled.

"Buffy?"

"Oh sorry, got carried away."

"There's more to…" Before Joyce could go on the phone rang and Buffy went and answered it.

"Sorry, mom I have to go some demon thingy. I will be home later." Buffy said as she walked out the door with a coat and stake in her hands.

Alone again, Joyce thought as she poured a glass of wine and sat on the couch. Joyce kept glancing at the clock it was two o'clock in the morning and she was getting nervous as another ten minutes went by Joyce stood up and was just about to call someone when a knock came to the door. Joyce went over and opened the door to the last person she suspected to be on the other side, Rupert Giles.

"Hello, Joyce? Um, can I um come in." Giles stuttered as he took off his glasses and began to wipe them off (an obvious nervous habit).

"Um, sure." Joyce replied. "I was just about to call about, Buffy. She's not home yet."

"Oh, she's at Willow's."

"Oh, um I don't want to seem rude but wh…what are you doing here?"

"Buffy, spoke to me earlier, well more like yelled and I realized how…how…I'm sorry but I have only been not speaking to you because that's what I thought you wanted but I can't. You have captured me, Joyce. I can't stop thinking about you." Giles got closer to Joyce and laid his hands gently on her shoulders. "I want to be with you in every way possible." Admitted Giles.

"I have done nothing but think about you to." Joyce said under a breathy whisper.

The two leaned into one another until their lips met, it started out gentle then the hunger that had been held back exploded. Joyce lead Giles up the stairs and to her bedroom where they showed each other over and over again how much they have wanted one another. The next morning Buffy, Willow and Xander sat in the kitchen eating cereal when Joyce and Giles came down the stairs.

"Guess it was a good thing I stayed at Willow's last night." Buffy grinned, Joyce and Giles blushed with embarrassment. Xander and Willow just sat with their mouths open;

"We are just going to um…go and get dressed." Joyce squeled as the two went up the stairs to get completely dressed.

"Jeez, you would think the candy would of worn off by now." Buffy said as she took a bit of cereal and began to pour some more.

Not even a demon attack could tear Rupert and Joyce apart because they weren't willing to lose another moment with one another.
