My Blessings

Short A/N: No spoilers or anything of Deathly Hallows or the movie, just some thoughts on that fateful night. I don't even remember what book this was introduced in, since I haven't read them in a while now. Care to enlighten?

She remembers their first children.

They were the hardest years of their marriage, after her pregnancies, for they became the children they could not have. Each one of them passed close to her heart, tiny, premature fists fighting for chances not meant to be had; they slipped away, one by one, small and innocent.

And now, faced with the impossible, she weeps again for another lost child. "Please," she begs, "not this one too." For he is her son, her beloved and only son, the Boy Who Lived.

But there is no time, now, to weep for lost futures and an orphaned boy with only lost brothers and family secrets to his name.

She promised her son life, and Lily Evans Potter will give her own so he may have it.
