Chapter 1

Elena Gilbert wasn't at all happy about having to move to Forks. She wanted to stay in Fell's Church, where she grew up. She wasn't able to do that. Elena wasn't able to leave her friends, Meridith and Bonnie. And what about mom and dad? Often would Elena visit them daily over the weekend. Now she had to leave them. But Aunt Judith said that it was for the best. Elena never understood what she meant about that.

Elena sat there, in her room full of boxes. She was neatly packing everything inside when Margaret walked in. She gently took Margaret in her lap and they sat together as Elena picked up a baby album. She scrolled through it with Margaret. Her tiny hands tracing the pictures. The picture of Elena as a baby with her mother and father made her tremble. She missed them so much, and having to leave them was one of the hardest things she had to do. Tears burned in her eyes ready to overflow.

Elena got up and took Margaret to the kitchen where Aunt Judith was. She was cooking as delicious stew that had a mouth-watering smell. Elena put Margaret in her baby chair. Aunt Judith put a small plate of food aside for her. Elena sat down and wiped her eyes from the tears thet were threatening to come running down. Aunt Judith set a plate of food in front of her and then she sat down. Elena looking in one direction out of the window.

"Do we really have to move?" she asked. Elena just stared at her plate of food. She wasn't hungry anymore.

"I know it's not what you want, but wouldn't it be great if we could at least get away from the dangers of Fell's Church?" she said.

Elena turned her head to face Aunt Judith. Dangers? She thought. What dangers could there possibly be in Fell's Church. Her mind then shifted back to all the killings that had happened a few weeks back.

"But my life is here. My friends, my family... my everything." She twisted the word. She wanted Aunt Judith to know how she felt about moving. Her life was here in Fell's church. How was she going to fit in when she moved to Forks?

"I'm sorry Elena. But You don't want anything else to happen do you? And who knows who our next victim could be? Think about Margaret." Aunt Judith had a pleading face. She was right. Elena had to think about what would happen to Margaret. What if she could be the killer's next victim?

And... Stefan. She had wanted him so badly. She was so sure she was going to have him at the end of the year and now all her hard work was for nothing. She could imagine the look on Carolines face when she finds out that she's moving. Elena never wanted anyone to know except Bonnie and Meridith. How was Caroline going to react seeing her leaving the school? Elena thought.

Elena just stared out of the window. Her face was blank. A cool breeze swept through the kitchen. Aunt Judith just stared at Elena as if waiting for an answer. Elena broke the silence by pushing out her chair. "I'll be upstairs if you need me" she said turning around.

"Aren't you going to finish your food?" Aunt Judith asked.

"I'm not hungry" Elena walked on. Her face, he rmind was blank. When she got to her room she threw herself on her bed. She buried her face in her pillow. She was thinking about Stefan now. The mysterious boy that she wanted so badly. The one she knew that she was soon going to have, was now drifting away from her. So close, she thought. I almost had him. The tears overflowed in her eyes cause her pillow to become wet. She cried herself to sleep.
