Hold Me Close:
Rei watched as they wooden coffin was lowered into the ground. It had been a week since her grandfather's death. He had died at the age of eighty-eight in his sleep. Ever since she had told her friends she wanted nothing more than to be alone. The funeral had been a rather small one and only her father had been invited. Of course he hadn't shown up since his job as a politician was much more important to him than his family.
After the coffin was lowered into the ground and a moment of silence Rei turned to leave. As she walked slowly out of the cemetery she noticed Minako, dressed in all black, standing by the gates. She was surly surprised to see the blonde standing there after she told everyone that she wanted to be alone. "Minako," She began. "What are you doing here?"
Minako gave Rei a sad smile. By looks of it she seemed late for the funeral because it looked like Rei leaving. She hadn't meant to be this late. "It didn't seem right to leave you alone." She told the raven-haired young woman in a quite voice. "I just want you to know that I'm always here for you if you need me."
Rei tried her best to return Minako's smile, but tears came out instead. She covered her eyes with her hands and cried. Minako didn't try to stop her by saying everything was going to be all right. She knew that would never have worked. In fact, she didn't quit understand why people said that. Of course it wasn't going to be all right.
The only thing Minako could do for the moment was hold her. She wrapped her arms around the priestess and held her. There they stood for what it seemed like eternity. When Rei felt her tears ending she dried her eyes and looked at Minako. "I'm sorry." Rei whispered as she pulled out of Minako's arms.
The blonde reluctantly let Rei go. She wasn't sure what to say other then what she had already told her. As she turned to leave she felt Rei place a hand on her shoulder, stopping her from going. "Thank you Minako." Rei quietly said to her friend.
Minako smiled at her. "You're welcome."
Rei shifted her gaze to the ground before looking back up at her friend. "Don't leave yet. I want you to stay."
"Alright, I'll stay as long as you want me to." Minako said as she gave Rei another hug. She didn't have to say what she said earlier because even though she said it once she knew Rei that she'd always be there for her.
AN: I know my normal Rei/Minako fics are about them being in love, but I wanted them to be friends in this one. It just felt more right. Anyways, please review.
