You guys probably realize this doesn't seem right. I know some of you probably remember seasons of war, but that was written before Remembrance, so I kinda had to scrap it. I should have taken it down way earlier, but I totally forgot about it…. So here is Emerald Angel, before I've even finished Remembrance.
The Emerald Angel
Chapter 1: Remembering Regrets
"This is so dumb." Becky muttered. "How'd you even manage to break this thing?"
"I'm not the one who did it." I told her handing over some odd tool she needed to fix the Navigations panel. "Ensign Kennedy did."
"Well, he might as well have blown it up, because it's almost completely ruined." She crawled out from beneath it and stood, pulling down her red skirt indignantly. She scowled at Kirk, who smiled like an idiot in his chair.
"This," She said, picking her bag of tools up with a clank, "Is why I hate being on the Bridge." She scowled again, and told me, "Call Loverboy down. He might be able to do something about it. I've no clue what's messed up with it."
"Captain?" I said, meaning for him to call Pavel down.
"Got it."
When Pavel arrived he gave me a crooked smile and messed my hair up. "Vhat did you ruin zhis time?"
"It was not me!" I squeaked. I pulled my fingers through my shoulder length hair, tugging out the new knots.
"Oh, of course not." He chuckled, crawled under the panel, and messed with it for all of thirty seconds.
"Good to go." He told me.
Life returned to the panel, much to my amazement. "What'd you fix?"
"A bad wire."
"Right. Cause wires still exist this far in technology." He smiled a crooked smile and said, "Vhen do you get off?"
I frowned, checking the clock on my desk and groaned. "About an hour ago."
"Let's go zhen. I need to talk to you about somezing."
"Oh...kay?"
We reached my room a minute later, and I sat on the bed. Pavel remained standing awkwardly in the centre of the room. "So... What'd we need to to discuss?"
Pavel sighed, "Zhe keptin offered me anozer position on the ship."
I instantly light up, happy to here of this fortune. "Really? As what helmsman?"
He stared at the ground and mumbled something incoherent.
"What?"
"Security Chief." He muttered.
I stared at him, horrified. "Pavel, you can't really be thinking about this."
He sighed again, sitting next to me on my bed, still looking down. "Zhat is vhy ve're talking about it. I vant to take his offer."
I gaped. "Pavel please! You have no idea- no one does- of what happened last month. You died. Please, I don't want to go through that again."
"I didn't. I von't."
Worried tears sparked up. "Pavel...no."
"I'm going to do it, it's final." he said quietly. "You take over Navigations from me."
He stood. "I have to leave. I'll see you later." Pavel leaned down to kiss me, but I turned away from him. "Bye." I muttered.
He walked away, looking hurt.
"Jenny?" I heard Becky whisper she poked her head out of the door that connected our rooms. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I just... Could you play something on your cello for me?" I asked suddenly.
"I guess... What did you want me to play?"
"Something thats really pretty. A Largo."
"Okay." Becky retrieved her cello, and played me Dvorak's Largo.
Pavel and I had our first fight.
