AN: This is my first fan fiction story! I wrote this with a friend who is not the best at grammar, so I apologize for any potential errors that I may have missed. All things related to Percy Jackson and the Heroes of Olympus belong to Rick Riordan. Enjoy!
t was a warm, sunny afternoon and Will and Nico were lying in a field of wildflowers together, just enjoying each other's company.
It was a good day. Nico took Will on a walk along the beach at Camp Half-Blood for his birthday, and at the end of the trail Nico had a picnic waiting for them with Apollo to play guitar for them.
Apollo was just strumming the beginning notes of "Can't Help Falling in Love" when Will suddenly said, "Nico?"
Nico looked perplexed at Will's suddenly inquisitiveness at such an inopportune time.
"Yes?" he said nervously, the look on his boyfriend's face making him wary.
"I have a favor to ask from you…" he began to say just as Apollo snickered quietly at the boys' romance.
"And what would that be?" Nico replied, ignoring Apollo's quiet laughter.
"We've been dating for six years now exactly… we started dating on your birthday… if you remember. And I thought… well I guess I don't really know what I thought but it just feels right to say this now. " Will started to sit up and reach for something behind him. When his hand returned to view, there was a ring in it. He swallowed nervously before saying, "Nico di Angelo, you in all of your perfectness, will you marry me?"
Apollo suddenly shouted "Yes, this is so perfectly poetic."
Nico, however, sat there, dumbfounded. He couldn't believe this was happening. A few seconds passed and Will began to worry about him, so he whispered hesitantly, "Nico?"
Nico felt the happiness and fear of proposed marriage running through him but he didn't know how to say yes. He felt like he should've been able to say more than just yes.
But, as much as he wanted to give a speech to Will in return, telling him how much he loved him and what his hopes were for the future, he couldn't find enough air to say it. So, instead, he simply leaned forward, kissed Will, and said, "Yes."
And with that, Apollo suddenly shrieked like a fangirl and fell over backward with his guitar in tow.
With his legs dangling in the air, he began to laugh hysterically and shrieked at the same time. Will and Nico looked up from each other's eyes in concern, fearing for the god.
Their concern was not unwarranted because Artemis suddenly arrived and said "This happens from time to time. Don't worry about it. Oh, by the way, congratulations on the engagement."
And with that, she grabbed Apollo and disappeared in a flash of light, leaving the two lovers alone to return to their excitement and to enjoy not just that moment, but the rest of their lives together.
