Abe Lincoln and Thanksgiving

Jack was slumped in his chair at school; he was slightly bored. He listened to his teacher go on and on about thanksgiving and who made it a holiday in the first least Jack said to himself I only have to go to school tomorrow and then I am off for the long weekend. Starting on Thursday and ending on Sunday and then it's back to school on Monday. Then on the following Monday you'll hear stories about what your friends and fellow classmates did over the Thanksgiving weekend. Then Jack had an idea flipping over to a new page in his notebook; and as the teacher rambled on and on in the background.

Thank You Abe Lincoln

Thank you Abe Lincoln

For being such a good man

For listening to a somewhat elderly woman

By the name of Sarah Hail

She tried to make Thanksgiving a national holiday

Over and over again no president would listen to her

Except you Mr. Abraham Lincoln

So thank you very much

After Jack wrote that poem in his notebook he turned it back to it's previous page. For a simple reason he didn't want anyone to see his poem that he wrote. Now all Jack had to do was now wait for the long Thanksgiving Day weekend; which he was going to thoroughly enjoy.
