Here we stand, the prided Japanese fleet

From the bauxite eaten, to the oil drunk

We're destined to fight, destined for defeat

And with our pride, we're destined to be sunk

Are we ship girls? No, we are very much less

We're but a tool so the nation survives

Mere ships, no, pawns in a big game of chess

Our soul, expendable, to save real lives

The dew may fall and the flower remain,

Only to wither in the morning sun,

Or it may stay on the flower the same,

But be gone before the evening is done

This is a ship girl's life, one amidst war

One into which we're made... but fought, whom for?
