Summary: His life was a shady zone, but Sasuke's arrival brought something in Naruto that was stolen from him long ago—his will and reason to live. Sasu/Naru.
The Tranquil
--
The moon showed its proud nightly stance through his small two-by-four window. The chill of the dark was very evident in the little basement apartment he called home. With a shudder, he drew the blanket closer to his chin, twisting and turning with the events of his dream, or was it a nightmare?
With a gasp, he sat up, clenching his tan chest with a white-knuckled fist. His eyes were wide open; he no longer felt the need to sleep. Stretching over to the side table, he picked up his glasses for a better view of the digital clock. It was a bright red 2:30 in the morning. Removing the thin blanket from himself, he got up and headed for his computer.
With a buzz the screen turned on. He had received a message.
Hey Naruto,
I hope you're ready for school. I know you must be anxious to get started. But remember, don't over stress. It's not good for your health.
Anyway, I just messaged to tell you that I will be coming over in a few weeks time. I need to discuss some things regarding your current predicament.
Also, this month's rent is already paid in advance. No need to thank me; it's a way of me apologizing for not contacting you for a while. Sorry once again.
Miss you lots,
Iruka
Naruto gritted his teeth and clenched his eyes shut, holding back a sob. An elbow was rested on the desk with hands fisting his blonde hair.
He needed to read.

"You've given me the definition, Sakura, but does anyone know what it is? Any examples?" The teacher spoke in a bored tone. A Monday morning class, coupled with a hang-over did not go too well.
"Why does he bother? Shut him up Sasuke," the brunette beside him said, resting his head on his desk; eyes closed.
The said Uchiha gave him a glare that said, "This is the last time." He turned back to the teacher. "The-
Before he could form a sentence, a voice sounded at the door. "Umm...the neo-Nazi revolution in Germany is an example of the eugenics movement at play." A nervous blonde stood at the door, swallowing at the gaze from the class. Sasuke narrowed his eyes at the boy the moment he caught his eyes. His answer was executed well.
"Oh you must be Uzumaki, Naruto," The boy nodded, letting his glasses slip a bit from the bridge of his nose. "Welcome to Konoha High, Naruto. I'm Kakashi, your homeroom and history teacher." He smiled through his very deceptive mask. "Why don't you take an empty seat beside..." He looked around for an empty seat. "Hinata! Hinata please raise your hand."
Naruto moved slowly across to sit beside the shy girl. Sasuke watched him carefully take his seat. He smiled brightly at the girl from the pleasant interaction.
"Well, you didn't need to bother after all," the brunette beside him spoke without lifting his head.
"Hn."
It was just one answer, he reminded himself. After all, he loved a healthy challenge. The boy's name rang in his head as the rest of the class went by.
I hope everyone enjoys this. I've been thinking about the plot for a while now. I know this is short, but next chapter will be longer if people read and review! Since this is my first story, I need some constructive criticism as I have yet to learn a lot. So tell me your thoughts, whatever they maybe! Thank you!
