A Beautiful Exception
Though true my impressive intellect towers
O'er the simpletons with minimal powers
It is my curse to dwindle small hours
…Staring at the wall.
Cases upturn a thousand folds wide,
My priceless talent never denied.
Not one scoundrel dares to have tried
to best my bona fide talent.
To every rule there is exception
(Much to my own chagrin and depression)
Moriarty's mind is alike connection
-And for him I am grateful.
I have seen the tragedy sublime
From the highest ambition to the lowliest crime
After so many years I admit that I'm…
-quite tired of it all.
It has seemed my life has been far too void of
Something long-lasting or profound to let go of
My stagnation seems to rain from above
Then without warning, there came love.
It seems I've committed the ultimate blunder
that even Lestrade would shudder in wonder
that like a storm is certain to convey thunder
-I am only human after all.
This woman (of all things so highly absurd!)
Has proven me not so fine as my word
and furthermore I have astutely inferred
-that I'll never see her again.
It was valuable knowledge to me she imported:
we are akin when so we are sorted;
It's easier than we think to be blindly thwarted
-By a beautiful exception to the rule.
