Hating Him
24. "I should be old enough to know not to fall in love with the voice on the radio."
I tag .NickJonas x and ephifer1995 to do this lovely challenge. I hope you enjoy, and tell me what you think!
How could she be so stupid? She should know that just because she loved his voice, he didn't need to love hers back. In fact, he hated her guts. That wasn't much better.
She was stupid. She had listened to his song on the radio and it was like love-at-first-song. She was so immature, so naïve as to think that he could ever like her back, and it drove her nuts.
She sighed as she walked across the lakefront. Yup. She truly had nothing better to do in her free time. Of course, love over the radio is never easy.
And as soon as the sky cracked and boomed and the sky ripped open, allowing the water to pour out of it, ruining her hair, her makeup, her hair, she laughed and ran up the shore and up the steps. She ran around the trails and past the cabins to the only clear open space in front of the Beach Jam stage. She twirled and twirled, feeling glamorous as she struck silly fluffy pop star poses. She laughed and spun and bended. Because she never knew that a heartbreak could be so much fun.
And he just stood there, staring at her and chuckling to herself at how weird she looked as she laughed up to the sky. As she tried to catch the rain on her tongue. As she tried to forget.
And he realized that he wanted to forget his heartbreaks too.
So he ran out there, picked her up, and spun her around, smiling as she shrieked with happiness (maybe it was the heartbreak seeping through into the joy).
He set her down and they danced around for hours yelling and screaming and singing like the idiots they were.
And when the rain finally stopped (2 am), she looked at him.
"I lied."
She stated it proudly.
"I cheated."
He did the same.
She narrowed her eyes.
"w h y?"
The question wasn't rhetorical.
"Because she wasn't good enough for me."
He replied wittily.
"That's a good reason."
She nodded approvingly.
"Why did you lie?"
He asked with curiosity.
"I wanted to fit in."
She told him as she lay on the wet grass, soaked from head to toe (just like himself).
"You never will. You're s:p:e:c:i:a:l that way."
He told her.
It was the truth.
No LIE!
"Would you cheat on me?"
She asked, fluttering her eyebrows in mock flirt-uity.
He narrowed his b r o w n eyes.
"No."
And that's HONESTY!
Yes, falling in love with the voice over the radio is a stupid thing to do, since it only leads to a broken heart. But a broken heart isn't half bad if you have someone else to go through the pain with.
