It was the Valley of the End. He was so close. So close to beating Naruto. Seconds away from it. And he hated himself for it.

He hadn't realized that getting revenge for his clan would take him so far away from humanity, from sanity. So he made a split-second decision. The Dobe was getting desperate. He was starting to launch fatal jutsu, and Sasuke took advantage of it. One minute he was charging at the blonde, the next he sidestepped into the whirlwind of chakra that would kill him.

He looked at the stupid Dobe's face, which was white with shock, and smiled. He was happy to have finally done something right. He had ridden the world of a great evil, himself. The last person he saw was the best friend that he should have been, not the one that should have chased after him.

What the heck?

He looked round. He was home, in his bedroom for that matter. It was a very empty room, with only his bed, his training materials, and his dresser inside. It looked exactly as it had before he had left. It was even the same height as it had been when he was twelve. He would have thought that the room would look smaller. He also would have thought to be dead in some fiery hole.

Thinking back, it made very good sense. He had, after all, died. It was a very poetic death too, and he wanted to stay dead. It had been nice for however long it had lasted. He couldn't remember it, but he was sure it had to have been better than staying with the perverted snake. He honestly had no clue why he had defended the masochist whenever Naruto insulted him. The guy had given him a stupid curse hickey.

Speaking of which, he thought, I should go check and see if that's still there. I have no clue what's changed in the time that I've been dead. If I ever died. Or maybe I'm still dead, he thought. He chuckled a little, maybe the after life would be more fun than he had thought it would be. Of course he'd thought it would be fun to begin with, he had known some very humorous ghosts in his life.

He sighed a little as he walked out of the room. He'd missed the smell of this place. It was an odd thought, but that wa what he had missed the most. It still smelled faintly of his mother's cooking, and he could remember some of the dinners with his family where they had all been together, happily.

He looked at himself in the bathroom mirror. Staring back at him was himself. A twelve year old himself, but that wasn't all that odd, considering how he should, again, be dead. There wasn't a permanent black hickey curse on his neck, and there wasn't a hitai-ate tied around his forehead. Though that was a bit more normal than anything else that had been happening.

Alright, he thought. He was just going to go with it. Why not have fun with being stuck in… whatever this was.

Looking at the clock, he saw it was six a.m. on Wednesday. He took a second look at the date. This was going to be too much fun

He stepped into Iruka's classroom again. After years of not seeing the place, he saw that he could recognize every little thing in the room, and everyone.

Hinata sat in the corner, too shy to do anything but blush and take notes. Kiba was by Shikamaru and Choji, who were talking and ignoring him. Naruto was in the very middle of the room, yelling to no one in particular, just hoping someone would notice him.

He walked over to his seat. They didn't have assigned seats, but he had sat in that spot since the first day of school. Even in some dead dream, he wanted his spot.

Everyone turned as the door was almost torn of its hinges, and Sakura and Ino charged in. They looked like they had been racing. He couldn't remember this happening, but then again, he never payed attention to those around him before. He was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

He looked back over at Naruto, who was smiling at Sakura, probably thinking that she was smiling at him instead of Sasuke. Sasuke wished that were true. Not only because Sakura was an annoying clingy fan girl, but because he had made the Dobe's life a living nightmare. He wanted to make it up to the guy in whatever this dead dream was. Maybe his brain had made it up to try and ease his consciousness before he died, and he was less than a second before death even right now. He sighed, he just couldn't catch a break.

Sakura was about to punch Naruto. All because he had complimented her. He didn't have anything against Sakura, but she hadn't been nice to him because they were friends, she'd been nice to him because she had a stupid crush on him. In a contest, the Dobe would always win for who he would defend in this guilt ridding illusion.

He stopped her fist from coming down seconds before she hit the blonde's head. She blushed furiously as she saw that Sasuke was holding her wrist. Then she turned pure white as she realized it was to stop her.

"Oh, uh. Sasuke-kun!" She stuttered. "I'm sorry, I didn't see you there!" She wen on. Sasuke rolled his eyes.

"Jeez. You need to get over this crush. It's even more annoying the second time." Then he surprised himself. He smiled at her. He laughed inside, why not? He could do anything in this weird life that he wanted.

Sakura blushes uncontrollably, and Ino was almost screaming in anger. He started laughing at Ino's face. He was laughing a lot now. Well, a lot more than he had.

The entire class looked at him like he had just sprouted wings. He laughed even harder when he thought that it was actually possible. Or it was, when he had the seal.

Iruka chose that moment to walk in, and froze in his tracks as he saw Sasuke bent over and gasping for breath in the middle of the room. Sasuke's was almost crying. He hadn't laughed like that since he'd last hung out with Itachi. Speaking of Itachi, he wondered where he was. He almost started laughing again at the bought of his brother's expression when he realized his otouto didn't want him dead. He did chuckled when he thought of what Itachi would think when he told him he also knew about the coup and Danzo.

He realized everyone was still looking at him. He started back at them, still smiling, until they all dropped their eyes. He looked back over at Naruto.

"I suggest you practice your clone jutsu for the exam tomorrow."

He walked back to his seat, and just kept smiling. He was going to wreck this world.
