The long, black haired priestess walked in long, elegant strides; her bow in her right hand and her arrows strapped on her back. Her eyes were half-lidded, as though she was uninterested, but interested at the same time. Her senses were wide awake and alert as she walked through the forest incase any demons were to confront her.
A single white ribbon kept her long hair in a tight, yet loose, ponytail that flowed down her back- a form of support, she would call it. A form of support when she had nothing else that could support her. The ribbon was the one sign of humanity and purity that she kept with her at all times- something she kept safe and clean no matter what. Her bow and arrows were stripped of their humanity the moment she killed her first demon. Her priestess garments lost their purity the moment the very first drop of demon blood tarnished the fabric.
She, herself, had lost her purity the moment she chose to fall in love with a demon - Inuyasha.
She had lost her humanity the moment she was resurrected fifty years after her death.
The priestess's once sweet, feminine scent was replaced with the smell of dirt and decay. Her once warm, soft skin was now cold and pale. She was awake and moving, but she was a lifeless being, feeding off the souls of young girls.
The sudden threat of a strong, demonic aura caught her full attention as she quickly whipped out an arrow and positioned it on her bow, aiming it towards the sky where the aura was strongest - her grip strong, and her eyes hard.
The demon revealed himself, gliding in from the sky and landing gracefully on his feet. His cold, golden eyes looked deep into her brown ones.
They spoke silently through their eyes - their own unspoken language, one would say.
"Lord Sesshomaru." the priestess said with her bow still aimed at him.
"Priestess." He responded. "Lower your weapon."
"I have no desire to." She retorted.
"I bring a gift from Rin." the Demon Lord said, taking something out from his kimono.
The priestress, unwillingly, lowered her bow, and eyed the object inbetween his clawed fingers.
A purple bellflower.
She walked towards him and took the flower from him, her dainty, feminine fingers grazing his cold, clawed ones.
She smiled a light, sweet smile, showing off her virtually unseen dimples.
"Please give her my thanks." the priestess said, gratefully.
Sesshomaru nodded and flew away, his long, white hair flowing gracefully behind him.
The priestess smelled the flower and sighed at the sweet, succulent scent the bellflower possessed. She reached back and inserted the flower into the white ribbon that held her hair together, and walked away, continuing her journey through the forest.
The priestess came across an open plain the day after the Demon Lord gave her a visit, when she saw two familiar, short figures standing not too far from her.
"Lady Kikyo!" Rin said, running towards the priestess and throwing her arms around her legs. "I missed you!"
"Rin." The priestess smiled, crouching down to the young girl's height. "How have you been?" She said, tucking a piece of the girl's black hair behind her ear.
"I've been well! Jaken has been keeping me company because Lord Sesshomaru isn't around right now." Rin said, pointing to Jaken, who was sitting on a log, glaring at the child for adressing him so informally.
The priestess chuckled lightly. "Before I forget, I must thank you for the flower you gave me. I've kept it in my hair, though it is starting to wilt."
Rin cocked her head to the side. "But, Lady Kikyo, I didn't send you a flower."
"Oh? Then who was it from?" the priestess questioned.
"Lord Sesshomaru!" the girl exclaimed, "We were at a flower meadow a couple days ago, and he told us that he was going somewhere. But before he left I saw him pluck a purple bellflower from the ground!"
The priestess smiled and looked up at the sky, breathing in a deep breath of fresh air.
She suddenly felt a little more alive then she did yesterday.
