Claire bolted up in bed. Someone was pounding on her front door and Pavlov was barking.

"All right, all right. I'm coming," she shouted as she walked to the door. Undoing the locks, Claire threw open the door. Hobbes was standing on the other side, drenched from the rain.

"Bobby? What's wrong?"

He grabbed her and kissed her. His lips were demanding. Claire sank against him weakly. After a moment, he released her.

"I love you, Claire," he said and turned back down the front path.

Claire watched him go, dumbfounded. "I love you, too, Bobby," she whispered and went back inside.

Claire stood in front of the door to Hobbes's office, listening to see if Darien was inside. When she didn't hear him, she opened the door.

Hobbes looked up. Claire stood in the doorway, wearing those boots he liked. He braced himself for her rejection but none was forthcoming.

Claire walked around Hobbes's desk. She pulled him up by his lapels and kissed him passionately.

"I love you, too, Bobby," she whispered huskily when she released him and stalked out of the office.

Hobbes sat back down stunned. After a minute, he grinned broadly and started laughing. "I knew it."
