It was 3:22 in the morning.

Phoenix knew that Miles was having a bad week. He was even more grumpy than usual- his average grimace replaced by a scowl. It didn't take him long to figure out this was due to the shutting down of Miles' favorite coffee shop- The Midnight Cafe.

So, Phoenix (being the great boyfriend he was) pedaled all the way to The Midnight Cafe's other location in Kurain Village and back for their special blend of coffee. He didn't get any of their cream- he knew Miles liked his coffee black and unwavering. (like he sometimes suspected his soul was.)

He hoped to surprise Miles in a 80's movie type of way. Serenading him beneath his window with a blend of coffee and his magnificent piano playing!

His thighs ached, and he felt like passing out right then and there, but he'd make damn sure he was going to get this coffee to Miles! When he reached 341 East G. Avenue, he threw his bike down on the grass and ran up to the side of the house.

Phoenix was then presented with two windows- horizontally parallel to each other,

One had deep blue curtains embroidered with baby blue stars. The other was what seemed like dark pink silk. Being a traditionally raised highschool idiot, he automatically assumed that the blue-curtained window belonged to Miles and proceeded to throw rocks at it.

"Miles!", he whisper-screamed. "Hey, I got you coffee, Dork!" The rocks lightly tumbled down the thick glass.

The curtains were suddenly and forcefully drawn back by a furious-looking Franziska Von Karma.

Phoenix felt something heavy drop in the pit of his stomach. He had to admit, he was mildly afraid of the 5th grader. Despite being 7 years younger than he and Miles, she was studying for the Bar-Exam and was well on her way to becoming a prosecutor. His fear was amplified by the small riding crop she constantly carried around with her. How any of it was legal- he had no clue.

She opened her bullet-proof windows with ease- an incredible feat for a girl her stature,

"What are you doing throwing rocks at my window, you fool?!"

Phoenix scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. "Um…..do you know where your brother is?"

Franziska raised a blue-silver eyebrow. "Foolish fool, who foolishly does not see. His room is right there." She pointed her riding crop at the pink-curtained room next to condescending gaze turned into that of a stern glare. "Why? What sort of foolishly unspeakable-"

"NO! No, its nothing like that!" He waved his hands viciously in the air. "I just need to give him something! I swear, that's all!" He pulled out a bag of the coffee mix. "See?"

Franziska crossed her arms- contemplating whether or not he was telling the truth. Upon seeing the 'Midnight Cafe' seal, however, she seemed to believe Pheonix automatically.

"Okay. I'll wake him up. But if I ever see your foolish face come by the Von Karma household under such foolish circumstances again, I will see to it that my father ruins your foolish career. Understood, Fool?"

Phoenix nodded his head with vigor.

Franziska rolled her eyes and whipped out her riding crop once more. With a flick of her wrist, the crop hit the window with the magenta curtains.

A sharp sound vibrated in his ears, and almost immediately, a tomato-faced Miles popped his face out from behind the heavy silk.

Franziska made an unidentifiable sound (screaming or laughing? He couldn't tell.) and ducked back under her window. With a slam and a screech, she shut her window again, drew the curtains together and went back to bed.

The awkwardness was thick in the air while Phoenix and Miles stared at each other.

"You have pink curtains?"

"They're Magenta, Wright."

"I brought you coffee…"
