I was wondering lately. What if Jayfeather wasn't blind? So I wrote this humorous fan fic to kind of get an insight into what could have happened if he wasn't. By the way, I just finished Sunrise so the Hollyleaf thing is part of that too. By the way, despite how I portray Jayfeather, I love the gray tom 3
Disclaimer: I do not own Warriors, the characters, or the setting. If I did...well, I just don't, okay?
If Jayfeather wasn't born blind…
"Yes, YES! Now all the territories around the lake are mine!" shouted Jayfeather, a gray tom with shining blue eyes, standing on top of the rise overlooking former WindClan's territory. He flicked his tail and smirked at the cats gathering before him. "Now, my slaves, hunt for fresh-kill!"
As the cats parted to do as their leader commanded, he padded back to former ThunderClan's camp in the stone hollow. Inside, he bounded up to the Highledge and stretched each leg individually. Satisfied, he sat where Firestar, now Fireheart and former Clan leader, used to announce Clan meetings and wrapped his tail over his paws neatly. "All cats of JayClan, assemble under the Highledge for a meeting!"
The cats already in the clearing quieted and were joined by others. Fireheart, Brambleclaw, and Graystripe left the warriors' den and took places at the back of the crowd muttering among themselves before falling quiet as well. Jayfeather gazed at what was formerly called ThunderClan and his ears twitched. This was how things were supposed to be. He had all the power of the stars in his paws!
"From this moment on, the warrior code does not exist. Only my word is the code," He began. A gasp sounded from the middle of the group and the gray tom made out Hollyleaf, a black she-cat and his sister. He smirked knowing this new announcement bothered her. The warrior code was everything to her.
But not anymore, Jayfeather thought ruefully.
"And from this moment on," He continued, "Any cat who is against what I say will be punished in the worst ways imaginable. And trust me, my imagination works excellently."
All the cats gathered staring muttering among themselves and his fur bristled. How dare they! "QUIET!" Jayfeather shouted. They all fell silent once again and he felt his fur lie flat once again. He stared out at the cats and studied them silently. Alarm made his fur rise again as he noticed there was a cat missing.
"Where in the name of StarClan is Hollyleaf?"
"Right here," A voice said from behind him. Jayfeather turned and was tackled off the Highledge by a black cat. The cat's scent told him it was Hollyleaf. Anger flooded through him and he fought her back as she raked her claws across his flank. He hissed in pain and bit her tail trying to find a way to pin her down. Hollyleaf jumped onto his back and a sharp pain erupted from his neck. Unable to shake her off, he slumped to the ground suddenly fatigued. She jumped off of him and faced him.
"I'm sorry I had to do that, brother, but you destroyed the Clans and the warrior code. No cat like you should live," She muttered as she stalked away. Cats cheered as Jayfeather's vision faded.
"I will get my revenge one day," He mumbled and he closed his eyes for the last time.
