Author's Note: I was watching Terminal Leave the other day and I thought Tony's use of pilot language to warn Commander Shields was incredibly smart so I wrote this lil thing. It's an add-on to the scene and a tag to the end of the episode. My first posted story.
I noticed Kate dropping back to me.
"You up for an eight minute pace?" she asked.
"Behind us, white panel van. Been with us the last two turns."
"All right, let's drop back. If he makes this turn, we abort."
"McGee, we might have a situation here." I call over the radio.
"12:00.At the intersection." Kate warns.
"I see him."
"Ambush?" I nod in agreement
"TAKE COVER!" Kate bellowed. No response. Shit!
"BREAK LEFT! BREAK LEFT!" I called, translating into pilot talk for her. She starts to head left and I breathe a small sigh of . . .
BOOM! We all hit the deck as the car Commander Shields was about to run past explodes in flames. I hear two vans screech to a halt and doors open. I roll over and take aim at . . .
"FBI!" he calls, holding up his badge. Great, more of that bitc . . . woman's interference.
NCIS
"Hey Tony, nice going today, using pilot language was actually pretty smart, where'd you learn that?" Kate asked when we got back to the office.
"C'mon Kate, didn't you ever see Top Gun? Tom Cruise, Anthony Edwards, Maverick and Goose? There's this scene where they're in a dogfight trying to protect another plane and Maverick calls to the other pilot to break left on the count of three." I replied, grinning.
"Typical." Kate said, rolling her eyes. I'll never tell her that had it been a ship's officer I would have said left full rudder. Or left flank for a marine.
