Hey everybody! This story is something that just popped into my head, and i just HAD to get it up on here! This is my first one shot, and I'm looking forward to see what everyone thinks. :)

He was hidden behind the railings of the stairs as he heard the screaming and yelling coming from the living room. His parents were oblivious to the fact that he was there as they stood at either end of the room firing rude comments at each other. There were silent tears rolling down his cheeks as he watched; this was about the fifth fight they had had that week. Both of them had been on the edge for the past few weeks anyway and were repeatedly getting into arguments over things as little as misplacing the T.V. remote.
Deciding he'd heard enough for that night, he went up to his bedroom, grabbed his ipod from the top of his dresser and his hoodie from his bed. He went back downstairs and out the front door, shutting it softly behind him. He pulled his hoodie on and had his music blaring in his ears. He wiped the tears still wet on his face and set off down the road.
He had no clue as to where he was going; all he knew was that he had to get away from the house. It was tormenting him, seeing his mum crying secretly every night in her bedroom and his dad leaving the house for hours and hours at a time.
He reached the neighborhood playground and lay down in the middle of the football field and looked up at the stars. The breeze was chilly and he wrapped his arms tight around his body. Fresh tears fell down his face as he lay there. The day was near when both of his parents were going to drop the bomb and just give up. It was coming and he just knew it in his gut; they were going to get a divorce. Puffy white flakes fell from the sky and he took it as a sign to leave. He was gone for an hour or two and he knew that his parents would notice and he made his way back to the house.
He paused at the front door and hurriedly wiped any tears that were left on his face. He opened the door and walked in. The first thing his eyes fell on was his mother sitting at the foot of the stairs with her face hidden behind her hands. She looked up as he closed the door.
"Oh Dougie! I thought I'd lost you too!" she exclaimed with one hand over her heart.
"What do you mean?" he asked kneeling down in front of her.
She took his hands in hers. "He left, your father left saying he's never ever coming back."
She looked into his eyes waiting to see his reaction, but was surprised when he didn't say anything.
He embraced her and whispered in her ear,
"I've got you, Mum."
So what did ya'll think?
