He would never say anything about it, but Elmer knew.

Ronnie - the devil - was never going to leave the Camorra he had joined because of Elmer's wish. The family had almost become a family to Ronnie. It had probably been several hundred years since he had felt kinship with anybody.

It was easy to see his enjoyment, despite what he did to hide it. He hadn't missed out on any activity with the family since the dominoes. A light shone in his eyes when he was with the Martillos, Elmer observed.

And that was okay, probably really good for Ronnie's personal development, but it hadn't been worth it until last week, when Elmer had slapped the human form on the back.

Ronnie had smiled.

One of his best achievements, probably.
