Don't get me wrong, I ship CaptainSwan and I like how the Underworld ended... but oh my gosh wouldn't watching Colin O'Donoghue and Michael Raymond James make out be SUPER SEXY?
As Hook stepped through the portal, he was engulfed in a white light and momentarily blinded. When he finally felt he could open his eyes, he found that his surroundings had changed to a beautiful and mysterious location.
"Killian," a familiar voice greeted him. Hook turned around and saw Neal standing behind him, a smile on his face.
"Bae," Hook gasped.
"Welcome to Mount Olympus," Neal said. Hook couldn't help but almost run to his old friend, wrapping him in a hug. Unlike their last hug, Neal was more than willing to reciprocate.
It wasn't like Hook or Neal to get emotional, but being reunited with a close companion after death was almost too much for both of them. "If I had known our conversation in the hospital would be our last... there were so many things I would have said," Neal admitted.
"Aye, but it's not our last, mate," Hook argued. "We've both made it to the Better Place. For all eternity."
"Right," Neal said awkwardly, pulling out of the hug. He paused for a moment, staring at the handsome pirate's face before continuing. "Zeus was going to meet you himself, but I asked him to let me come. He wanted to thank you for helping to take out Hades... he, uh, wanted me to give you your reward."
"Getting here, with my old friends... with you," Hook remarked, placing his hand on Neal's shoulder, "is plenty of reward for me."
Neal gulped, the words even harder to form than he expected. "He wanted me to tell you that... you can return to the land of the living... if you'd like."
Hook paused. His hand slipped off of Neal's shoulder. "Are you joking?"
"It's a gift, for you and Emma and... and everyone. Because you stopped Hades in his mad search for power. It's a one-time chance."
"And you? Can you...?"
"No," Neal responded. "It's for the best, though. Don't worry about me. It's better if you return alone. Emma's moved on, and me returning would just mess with her chances at this new True Love with... with you."
"So the reason you wanted to greet me..." Hook said forlornly, "was so that we could have a proper goodbye." Neal nodded, and Hook pulled him into another, even more emotional hug.
"What I wanted to tell you... before I died..." Neal started slowly, stuttering a bit as he tried not to cry. "I know we fought over Emma, and before that I was angry with you for killing my mother, but... You've always been a special person to me, Killian. I'm glad we repaired things."
Hook gulped, uncomfortable with the corniness and emotion in the situation, before finally giving in. "Bae... I'm proud of what you became. You've always been a strong boy and you've overcome every obstacle. The man that I see... he's strong and mature... and handsome. You're an amazing person, Bae. I will always love you."
The two men pulled back from the hug, staring at each other, unsure what to say. "Oh, fuck it," Neal finally blurted out and put his hands on Hook's cheeks, bringing him in for a kiss. Hook didn't take long to respond and the kiss was filled with the passion and emotion the two men had been holding in for so long.
Finally, Neal pulled away. "Now... let's take you where you belong," he said sorrowfully, leading Hook down the path that would eventually lead him back to Emma.
