Author's Note: I think it's pretty plausible to think that maybe Isane's feelings towards her captain verges on hero worship, don't you?
Disclaimer: I don't own Bleach.
Even after decades in the service of the Fourth division, in the presence of her captain Isane tends to stay a bit awed, just a touch overwhelmed and overcome with reverence and wonder. For all her gentleness Unohana can not deny an existence as a figure of awe, as a remote queen who stands as a star upon the heavens, just and distant.
A figure not to be touched.
Isane reveres her. All of the division and many Shinigami outside it do; they can't really help. Unohana's omnipresent aura is one that no one can help but to respect. Her deep blue eyes, always kind, always understanding, invite peace and obedience, harmony and accord. No one in the Fourth division even thinks to circumvent Unohana's will, let alone Isane.
No one truly wants to, anyway.
The hospital is a place of quiet peace and understanding. It is a sanctuary for the sick and the wounded, not a realm of chaos as so much of Soul Society has become. Isane credits this to Unohana.
She owes so much to her captain, suspecting that, if not for Unohana, she would have died again, in Rukongai before she could ever come to a real grasp of where she was, and Isane knows she would never have been reunited with her sister if not for her entry into the Fourth division—facilitated, of course, by none other than Unohana.
So Isane, more than any other, admires Unohana Retsu-taicho of the Fourth division.
Her captain seems to her a distant mirage, like a gentle apparition composed of mist and snow. Something to be loved from afar, but never approached, never touched. Only to be worshipped, but never looked upon with unworthy eyes.
Isane is happy to labor and roam the halls of a place of healing, through cool tiles and smooth quiet walls. She is happy to live under the rule of the white queen of the Fourth division.
She will always be happy, so long as this remains a place of sanctuary.
And it always will be, with Unohana-taicho there to guide the world.
