It was Halloween, the witches day.

Everyone had been excited because of the day, well all but one girl. Hermione Granger. She had a fight with her friends just minutes before and was now steaming on her way to the Great Hall. Muttering about Ron's idiocy. And likewise Harry's tendency to lean toward Ron whenever they had a fight.

Though it was a stupid fight, her writing to Viktor, it still upset her to know that Ron and Harry didn't trust her.

And for one minute second she had thought the fanciful notion that Ron might, just might have feelings for her as well.

"Hermione!" She heard someone call, and thought about ignoring him for a moment, but decided against it and turned around to look at Ron.

He blanched back, noticing she was holding back tears. "Hermione?" He asked as he reached for her. "Can't you leave well enough alone Ronald?" She snapped at him. And walked furiously towards her patrol destination. Which that night was the Great Hall and all the surrounding areas.

"No Hermione, I'm sorry." He said to her as he caught up to her and walked beside of her. "You don't even know what your sorry about I suppose! You just don't want me mad at you so you can copy my homework. Is that all that I am to you Ronald? Brains? That I don't care?" She huffed out and he grabbed her arm.

"Never Hermione, never. You are much more then that! Your so much more then that!" He said to her and she raised her brow. He swept back the hair that had snuck out of her blue head band. "I'm sorry for being a prat, you have every reason to talk to Krum."

Hermione's eyes widened as he said that. Then narrowed "Alayna forced you to come after me didn't she?" She hissed as she forced her arm out of his hold.

"I will admit, she may have yelled at me that I was an ignorant prat, who didn't even see what I had right in front of me. But coming after you was my choice." Ron sighed running his fingers through his hair. The candlelight from the candles above illuminating his face and hair.

"Oh." Hermione said defeatedly.

"Please Hermione tell me whats wrong." He said looking down at her. "I know that there is something bigger then Krum going on here."

Hermione didn't say a thing, but looked away from him at the clouds in the ceiling of the Great Hall, covering a near full moon. Then in her sight she saw Ron, who while she was looking at the moon and clouds moved in front of her. "Mione, please what is that's bothering you?" He said putting his hands on her shoulders.

Hermione huffed. "You wouldn't understand Ron." Ron rolled his eyes at this. "Try me." He said to her in a tone that said that she shouldn't try to back out of telling him what was wrong with her.

"Don't Ron, please don't ask me that." Hermione said to him. "Don't make me say it." He shook his head but she put her hand to his cheek. "Not now at lest. I don't want to tell anyone just yet."

"Fine Mione, but will you tell someone soon? Its not good to hold it inside." Ron said to her.

Hermione nodded at him, "I promise."

He smiled at her and she had to grin back. "Hey Mione?" Ron asked as he dropped his hands from her shoulders.

"Yes Ron?" She asked back as she moved to an area of the Great Hall that was more illuminated by the candles and with plenty of room. This gave Ron a good look at what she was wearing.

A pale blue hair band with a matching shirt and flats, and jeans. He held out his hand. "May I offer you this dance?"

She smiled at him, reaching for his hand. "Yes you may." She said and for the rest of their patrol they danced around the Great Hall.

Yes it was Halloween, the witches hour. And every once in a while a witch would gain a love during the magical hour of Midnight. As Hermione Granger found out, that one fateful night of her sixth year.
