How To Go Into Z-Space
Z-Space is a sort of hyperspace; it's also what body mass goes into when someone morphs. But what, exactly, is Z-Space?
In the Animorphs series, Andalite ships go into Z-Space when they need to go somewhere very quickly. From that, we understand that it's a sort of 4-dimensional space that transcends 3-dimensional space.
If this is what Z-Space is, then you would have to have specially trained Andalite pilots to fly ships in it. 4-dimensioanl space has two additional directions, ana and kata, which 3-dimensional beings cannot move in. These Andalites would either have to have a lot of imagination, or be able to see in 4-dimensional space. That wouldn't be practical, so we can discard that theory.
One idea is that it's sort of a parallel plane of existence that exists in antimatter. That's not practical, of course. Antimatter is basically like regular matter, only it explodes when touching regular matter. There aren't any spatial anomalies in it that would allow ships to cross light-years in a matter of minutes.
There is, however, one more theory: it's both. It's a sort of negative dimension, higher than ours but also made completely of antimatter. Sort of a cast-off dimension that was thrown aside when the universe was created.
In which case, the Andalites must have really good ships.
Last in the series! (For now.)
