I'm Rosso Angelo. Hoping you have a good day.

So, My hero Academia has been on my mind for quite a while. I've been wanting to write a story about it, but I wasn't so sure what kind of story I could make. After a lot of trial and error, I ended up coming to the conclusion that I wanted to write something that touched the theme of what it means to actually be a Hero, and how a person can perceive the concept of 'Justice' to justify its actions.

Obviously, that's a heavy theme for a not-so-good writer as me. I just see if you all like it, and where does it gets me. For that reason, feedback is greatly appreciated. Reviews work to point out a story's flaws and what would make it better, so take that in account.

This story's protagonist is an OC, but not neccesarily a self-insert.

Without further ado, hope you enjoy.

I do not own My Hero Academia, but I own this story.

Prologue, part 1 – Naraka Arbuda

"A Hero is an ordinary individual who finds strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles"

- Christopher Reeves

- BHA-

For all the stories and theories depicting how death could even feel, she wasn't surely expecting it to be so… Simple. Simple, and torturing, that is.

The exact cause of her death wasn't very clear. Images and sounds of a distant or close past were there, but she couldn't make anything out of them. Vague recollections of a previous life she couldn't remember, just like a puzzle with missing pieces. There wasn't an exact pattern on the memories she lost, or the ones that were still there. As if her entire being was twisted and broken in pieces, without a clear form or reason.

Her name, her appearance, her family, the things she liked, and other things she didn't like so much. All of it was lost for all eternity, lost in a dark void where nothing else existed. Her identity was almost completely erased.

Since the moment she got here, the only thing that served as an eternal company was the cold. Freezing cold, like a blizzard that violently assaulted her from all directions with great force. A permanent winter whose only objective was to destroy what remained of her soul. Her naked, bare body was exposed to the cold embrace of death.

Ironically, she couldn't move her hands. Or her entire body for that matter. She couldn't feel anything besides pain.

...No, cold wasn't supposed to cause so much pain. It was supposed to do the opposite. Or was it...? She couldn't tell anymore, anyway...

She didn't know if she liked cold before, but now, she didn't like it at all.

It was incredibly painful, something she couldn't even imagine of existing. She was very sensitive, and her 'body' wouldn't get accustomed to the hellish temperature no matter how long she withstood it.

'What did I do to deserve this…?' She thought drily as the coldness became rougher and rougher, becoming something akin of being stabbed hundreds of times with sharp needles.

She obviously didn't want this. If she was destined to suffer in hell for eternity, at least she wanted to know why. But no, not even that. Were her sins so horrible and atrocious that she wasn't worthy of knowing? Was she so evil that she deserved to suffer in pure ignorance?

Seconds. Minutes. Hours. Days. Months. Years.

It didn't really matter how much time had passed, the suffering didn't become bearable. The pain didn't subside.

Hell was for bad people. Was she an evil person? She didn't think so. However, her memories were still missing. With what security she could affirm that she was, indeed, a righteous person?

If this was to make her repent for her sins, then she would apologize hundreds of thousands of time. What's more, she would apologize thousands of times for every wrong she did, no matter how small and insignificant it could be.

Any price, she would pay it. Any sacrifice, she would make it. All just for the sake of stopping this horrible nightmare.

Because she hated it. Hated it. Hated it. Hated it. Hated it. Hated. Hated it. Hated it. Hated it. Hated it. Hated it. Hated it. Hated it. Hated it. Hated it. Hated it. Hated it. Hated it. Hated it. Hated it. Hated it.

What did she do to deserve this?

Why everything was hurting so much?

It was... It was...

'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!'

...There was so much of it...

'PLEASE, SOMEONE, HELP ME!'

(Don't.)

It was so much… This couldn't even be called normal pain anymore.

St̵̀a̷y ̡͡͞w̵̕i̡̛ţ̀h̵́͘͘ m̛͟͡e͡, To͟͠d̢͡o̕r̵̕ok̵i͘-͡͞͝s̡̛͠a͟͢ņ̛. ̶̴Whér̵̶̶e's̶̵҉ t̡h̴͡e̢̨͝ f́à̢̢t̵h̡͘͘er.́͠.҉̢͠.̢̨?!̨͞

'I'LL DO ANYTHING, BUT PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!'

(It isn't enough. More.)

...This horrible punishment wouldn't be comparable with anything else she had suffered in the past…

.̵͟.͝.C̷'̶̶͝m͏o͜͜͝n̛,̵̴̕ yo̢͏u'̵̛́r̨e ҉͡a ͟҉str̴̛̀o͢͜n͟͟g̷̛̀͠ w̛͜ó̶͝m̵a͟͞ǹ̀͡.̀͏̛̛J̕ų̕̕s͘͠t ̡͞ǫ̨͢ne̵̷͡ fi̛͝nal ͟͡p̶ùs͠h̕..͝͏̢.͏!̴͢͡

She hated all of it.

'MAKE IT STOP!'

THUMP

'…?'

THUMP

'…!'

As if some kind of higher being heard her prayer, something started to move within her. Rhythmically, something she so-slightly remembered from before started to make itself known.

Her heart was beating. Of all things, it was her heart the first thing she felt.

She focused on that same heartbeat, the only proof that she maybe had a chance to get out of that place. As she did so, a soothing feeling began enveloping her supposedly non-existent being.

The Cold… It was going away! It was being replaced with… Warmth.

And then, slowly but surely, more and more things started to add up. The fleshy feeling of her organs working, the rough yet protective hardness of her bones, her soft muscles serving as another layer to the aforementioned things… Before she knew it, her body was back. Well, at least she thought her body was back. She couldn't still see anything. She couldn't actually breathe either, but her heart was suspiciously working despite there was no air entering her lungs.

The warmth only seemed to increase with each second passed, concentrating in a singular point. It was luring her to move forward. It was giving her a chance to escape the dark void she was trapped in, but only if she made the first move.

What was she supposed to do? Reject it? It was an unambiguously good feeling that seemed to wash away her initial fears. Intuition told her that, if she rejected the warmth now, she wouldn't get the chance to get out again.

Then, while trying to focus all feeling on her body to make sure she didn't lose it again, she got closer and closer to the warmth. She admitted that she wasn't sure if she was either walking towards the feeling or reaching it out with her hands. Yet despite that confusion lingering in her, she felt she was getting closer.

Her thoughts were becoming clearer and clearer. Pure light started enveloping her being, burning away the unending darkness surrounding her.

A even purer light blinded her before darkened sight, overwhelming her senses in a way no human could be capable of understanding. It was calling her. The only thing she had to do was to answer.

With a final little push of her own will, she reached out to the light, and-

"Waaah!"

'…Eh..?'

Did… Did that just came out of her mouth?

Maybe it was because she was just surprised. She was perfectly capable of talking-

"…Waah"

…Or not.

How? The words were already formulated on her mind, but her vocal chords refused to work properly. The only thing that came out of her mouth was childish wailing.

And now that she was more aware, she could feel something that wasn't right.

Her body felt kind of like jelly. Her arms and legs were incredibly weak, and she wasn't capable of moving them properly. She felt as if her bones were made of bread rather than actual bones. Her eyelids wouldn't open, no matter how much she forced them to do it. The air entering her lungs was hot. Every time she took a simple breath, it felt like the oxygen was burning her from the inside.

It was unbearable, but she didn't cry. Something seemed to hold her back from doing it.

There were voices, too. Adult voices. The sounds were too confusing for her understand what they were saying, and even if she heard them clearly, she doubted they were talking a language she knew.

And something warm was wrapped around her. Blankets, maybe? No, it was warmer than that, and much bigger since it enveloped her entire form without problem. And it… Moved.

She was also hearing another voice. One softer and more soothing than the warmth itself.

She forced herself to open her eyes. It was a sluggish, and somewhat tortuous movement, since a light above was blinding her.

With some effort, she finally opened her eyes and-

-She could only stare at the beautiful sight in front.

It was a woman looking down at her, smiling at her. An incredibly beautiful woman, whose equally beautiful features she couldn't appreciate because her eyes couldn't focus enough. If she was seeing right, this woman had an unblemished and smooth pale skin with seemingly no impurities. Her grey eyes, which a brown light on them, stared at her with tired affection. The most shocking thing was her hair. It was long enough for it to fall on the woman's shoulders, and covered a side of her face.

…And it was white in color. Not black hair turning white, or dyed hair. It was natural white hair.

Now, she had a lot of missing memories, but she was pretty sure white was not a natural hair color for such a young woman.

But worse than that… This woman was gigantic, compared to her. She looked like a normal person, yet her form was times bigger than her.

Her eyes were forced to close again. She felt as if her eyes were burning.

'Wait a second… It's not that she's big… It's because I am…'

She waited for a moment so that her eyes would stop 'burning', before opening them again with effort. Anxiety and confusion started filling her mind, as she did her best to move her head so as to look down her body. Or at least, her hand.

It was a taxing movement, but she could see one tiny detail about herself that she couldn't spot before…

One of her hands was small and chubby.

Chubby, pale and incredibly tiny in comparison to everything around her. Just like a...Baby's hand.

And with that little detail, all kind of conclusions formed on her head.

She wasn't surrounded by big people, she was just small. She was being held in this woman's arms. And her hand…

(It was horrible.)

…it was all too fantastic to be true.

She was absolutely sure she died. How? Not a clue. But she died, definitely. There wasn't a speck of doubt about that statement, even if she didn't know what killed her in the first place.

(You wouldn't want to know either way.)

But now… She was in a unknown woman's arms, surrounded by other gigantic people, talking in a language she more or less remembered.

So, all of this meant…

'…I'm…A baby…?'

Many things and emotions were surfacing. Thoughts and conclusions were being formed on her mind, trying to find reasoning and meaning to all of this. It didn't matter how much thinking she did, though. Nothing seemed to make sense.

In the end, it proved to be too much for her to handle, so she did the only thing that seemed normal situation.

Cry.

Cry and cry. Lots of crying. Each tear that fell down her face held the pain of a recently terminated life… And a newborn one.

It would've been much worse if it wasn't for the fact that a soothing voice attempted to calm her, saying things in a sweet and calm tone.

The crying continued a lot more until she fell unconscious, prey of her fear and confusion.

She was alive…

…She shouldn't.

- BHA-

She vaguely remembered the concept of reincarnation from her previous life, as the process of a same soul reappearing in a completely different body. It sounded pretty unreal, but now, it didn't seem too far-fetched.

(I'm alive. I don't feel like it.)

She understood, more or less, why she was a baby.

Though, because she was baby, she didn't know who were taking care of her, in what kind of house she lived in, or what was her general situation.

It's expected, obviously. A baby's underdeveloped brain isn't capable of taking in all the information that surrounds it, and she wasn't an exception to that fact. But not knowing only accentuated her desire to learn more and more about all of this.

Her body wasn't up to the task, unfortunately. Not only her brain wasn't working really well, but her body was in a lethargic-like state where she constantly ate and slept, even if she didn't want to eat and sleep. She was too tired by basically nothing, and her time was spent more on sleeping than anything else for quite some time now.

Well, she was capable of holding onto certain things. As much information as a little baby could hold, anyway. Things like, for example, her beautiful mother. Every time she felt bad, her mother would come and comfort her and give her lots of love. It was something nice to hold onto.

(She felt too cold, though.)

There also were other voices. Children, maybe. Older than her. Brothers? Sisters? She couldn't tell. They were too numerous for her to remember their faces at a time like this.

There was also other person… Hotter, more scary. She didn't know who was it, but she felt it wasn't someone she would get accustomed with anytime soon.

From to time, she would also hear screams. And loud sounds. She could make a guess on what was happening, but the thought of knowing what was the exact cause of those sounds still frightened her.

Spending so much time in that freezing hell made her intolerable to any kind of suffering now. She didn't want more of that.

(Ignoring it won't make it disappear.)

Either way, there wasn't much she could work with right now. She just had to wait.

She could wait a little more.

Though… She still wished the voices weren't so loud…

No, rather than voices… They were more like flies incessantly buzzing around her.

- BHA-

More time had passed. A lot of things still remained unknown to her, but she could still make something out of them.

First off, she spent most of her time doing nothing in a crib. If her eyes weren't deceiving her, it was made of pretty-looking wood. The smell of new wood and perfume was one of the things she quickly started liking, since her smell was very sensitive.

It was also pretty fluffy. She definitely liked it.

The only ones who were checking up on her were her mother, and other kids. 3 kids, if she remembered right. One had white, combed back hair, and was a boy. The other one had white hair with strands of red hair, and was a girl. The one who looked older than all of them had spiky red hair, a very strong shade of red. It was a boy, too.

They were his 2 brothers and sister, if she was guessing right. From time to time they would come here without previous announcement, and would start cuddling her with affection. They seemed pretty happy and satisfied with her, which was… Admittedly nice. She didn't really remember if she had any siblings in her past life, or a family at all, but all of this wasn't so bad.

Maybe it was reckless of her part to trust her 'siblings' too much, but… She couldn't help but to do it. They were the only ones who seemed to care about her.

Her new… Family, was also Japanese. Maybe. The way they talked was pretty similar to the Japanese she had heard in her previous life in many occasions. Of course, she hadn't discovered it at the moment of hearing them talking. It took her some months of listening to her family members to actually remember that the Japanese language even existed.

Aside her mother and possible siblings, there was also a weird man. A tall, imposing man. He had spiky red hair, brilliant green eyes and a muscular build…

…If she wasn't going crazy, she could confirm that the man had a beard made of fire. Literally, of fire. The fact that it was hot and swirled unnaturally every time she saw it only added more proof to that fact.

(Suddenly, mummy's hair isn't so weird).

Now, her previous life was a big mystery. But that didn't meant she didn't remember all of it. Her common sense was still there, and she knew perfectly well that having natural white hair while young or a beard made of fire wasn't normal at all. It wasn't physically possible.

So, this new life… This new "world", wasn't the same as her previous world?

It had become pretty hard to distinguish what was normal and what wasn't anymore. Well, reappearing as a baby after dying wasn't exactly normal to begin with, but she thought that her reincarnation would be the only thing out of place. It seemed that wasn't the case.

Maybe that man was supposed to be her father. He looked pretty scary, though. And his eyes…

…She saw many things on those eyes.

(None of them were good.)

Her father rarely came to see her, but when he did, he would pick her up and talk to her in a calm voice. However, she felt that the things he said to her weren't really good.

But, if he was her father, there had to be something good about him. Something she overlooked.

Or maybe she was just being too paranoid. Worst thing of being a baby was that not only she couldn't grasp an entire understanding of the situation, but she also couldn't protect herself. She was completely defenseless.

…Anyway, there was something weird happening with her. More specifically, her hearing.

She was more or less sure that Japanese wasn't a language she knew, but… From time to time, when she actually made the effort to listen the words that were spoken to her, it was like they… Made sense.

As in, she was capable of understanding some things that were said to her. Even when she was a baby, and wasn't supposed to know how to speak Japanese. She could unite the spoken sentences and translate a somewhat clear message out of them, but only when she was entirely focused on it. It took a lot of energy out of her.

Weird, if she could go by anything. This whole reincarnation thing was more complicated than what it seemed. Maybe it did something more than just give her a new body. Maybe it affected her brain, too.

Or maybe she was the one going crazy, thinking that people have white hair and beards made of fire. Thinking that she died and now was a baby. Thinking that she had a family that took care of her.

And hearing those damn flies constantly. They buzz around, becoming more and more annoying as time passes. They talk louder and louder. They never leave her alone. Drilling her head with horrible sounds that only she can pick up. With words only understandable by her and not anyone else, like a wicked privilege that was sure to make her suffer alone without other people even knowing that they exist or what they can do.

(You don't like being alone.)

She still was hoping for a real answer. An answer to this sick joke of destiny. The true purpose of her being here, in this world she knew nothing of. There had to be a reason behind all of this, a greater scheme that required for her to keep existing against her own wishes.

She couldn't just keep on living without a purpose. Starting a clean slate wasn't really a good thing if she had no motivation or objective to look forward.

Because when there's no purpose, one only lives to die. That's the inevitable destiny one's taken to when there's nothing else to live for.

She needed it. She needed it. She needed it. She needed it. She needed it. She needed it. Help me. She needed it. She needed it. She needed it.

'…I don't understand... I can't understand. What's the point of being here?'

Someone was crying. Her mother would surely comfort that person in no time.

(It's me.)

- BHA-

"Oh my god, she's so pretty!" A feminine voice squealed in delight. "And she looks almost exactly like you, Rei-chan!"

"Thank you" Mother simply said with a kind smile as she held her daughter on arms.

"So, so, what's her name? How old is she? Does she cry a lot or she's the silent type?" Another female voice butted in, bombarding mother with lots and lots of questions.

These people were really annoying, asking stupid questions every time. Mother was too kind for her own good, but she would end up answering anyway. Mother's kindness should not be shared with everyone.

"Her name is Akashi. She was born in July, and since we are in November's last days…" She thought about her answer for some seconds. "…She's just 5 months old. Akashi only cries if I'm too much time apart from her, though her siblings can calm her too."

"So she's a mommy's girl? That only makes her more cute!"

The little girl, known as Akashi, grunted slightly at all the noise they were making. She adjusted herself on her mother's arms, and turned her head to look at those women. She opened with some difficulty her eyes, and tried giving them the most menacing glare she could manage.

They squealed even louder. Her ears were ringing.

"Oooh, she has her father's menacing eyes! I hope she doesn't set me on fire."

'You're lucky I can't. You talk too much,' Akashi retorted mentally. This woman was starting to get on her nerves. The only ones who could cuddle her were her siblings and mother. They earned that right.

The girl also didn't miss the sudden flinch of her mother at the mention of her father, which only worsened her mood.

Not much time had passed since she was born, as her mother said. 5 months or so. Akashi was already able to understand everything people said to her, despite her short age. This reincarnation thing definitely did something to her brain. If that was a good or a bad thing… Well, she was decanted to say that it was slightly bad.

If she was able to understand everything, only to hear annoying people asking annoying questions, then it was bad.

However, she could also understand her mother. That was the good part of it, definitely. She was the only person worth listening. Her siblings were, too.

Over time, she learned her mother's name. Rei Todoroki. A beautiful name. Her sister was Fuyumi, and her 2 brothers were Natsuo and Touya. Best siblings in the world, without a speck of doubt.

Her father… He was Enji Todoroki.

He was… A rare case. He was always out of the house, doing 'things'. He took very little time to actually visit his family, so he wasn't that present.

But, she was supposed to be patient with him. He was her father, after all.

"Oh gosh, I'm late for my date! Take care of your little angel, Rei-chan!" One of them said in a hurry, before the sound of rapid steps were heard less and less.

'Finally' She smirked mentally, cursing that lady into oblivion. Some people just don't understand how much of a nuisance they can be.

"Well, I think I'll be going on my way too. Take care, Rei," the other one told her cheerfully as she too got out of the place, waving a hand at her mother.

They were both left there, in the entrance of the house.

Ah… Being with her mother always brought tranquility to Akashi. As she looked up to her progenitor, she could see she was wearing a white colored yukata for sleeping. It was a very usual clothing she used, specially in the mornings where she hadn't quite 'waken up' yet.

Mother sighed, though it didn't sound as a sigh of exasperation, if not of exhaustion. She then proceeded to look at her with tired brown eyes, and a kind smile.

"They were right, Akashi. You're so beautiful and pure, just like a little angel" She spoke in a soft tone. Even now, after hearing it dozens of hundreds of times, her voice still managed to calm her.

"You're so pure, and innocent…" Her voice dropped a little. "…I can't even begin to describe my fear for your future, my girl."

'…What?'

Mother didn't said something like that in the past months. What was she talking about now?

The white haired woman closed her eyes.

"I pray everyday. Pray so that you don't ever have a Quirk, or at least not the one your father wants you to have…"

'Kosei'…? Quirk. She had heard that term before, though it was left a bit ambiguous. It seemed something common in this world. Maybe that was the reason her father had a beard of fire…?

And what did her father have to do with anything? Enji could be somewhat of a bad father for not visiting his own baby daughter more often, but that was it. Aside his lack of presence around the house, there wasn't supposed to be nothing else about him.

This was new.

(New is not necessarily good.)

…And the flies were annoying as always.

Mother and daughter went inside the house again, the cold chill of winter making itself known throughout the street they were in.

- BHA-

Her house was incredibly big. Astonishingly so.

It was like someone had brought 2 houses and put them together, making 1 small palace-like edification in the process.

Maybe her father was a rich guy or something. Only someone like that could afford a house like this, and the commodities that respectively came with it.

Akashi's home was grand and beautiful, superficially. Sliding doors and tatami-covered floors were the most prominent characteristics she could hold onto her memories about the place. It was ridiculously spacious, even for a family of 6 people that didn't need it too much. The beige hue of the majority of the walls made a strangely good mix with the waxed wooden floors of the corridors. Windows were positioned in a way that would assure that the sunlight, if there was any, always pierced through inside the establishment. Everything was almost constantly iluminated, maybe for convinience, or just fanciness. The garden right in the center of the antique 'palace' was relatively small, but with enough place to stroll around and take a breather of fresh air outside from time to time.

Rarely enough did Akashi see Enji and Rei sleep in different rooms most of the time. It was weird. Mother and Father were supposed to sleep together. Or maybe that was just another thing she had forgotten. Her lack of memories wasn't helping at all.

Anyway, if Akashi was honest, a baby's life was pretty boring. There was nothing exciting going on most of the time, at least not for her. Just because she could somewhat entertain herself and react to everyone's conversations around her, didn't erase the fact that she felt... Ignored, in a way. Of course, her brothers and sister got a smile out of her with their little games from time to time, but they reminded her she couldn't participate in those games herself. Other times her mother would take care of her, but she wasn't always available to fullfil her role.

Speaking of them…

"Mum!"

One of the children came walking towards Rei and her daughter in arms. It was Touya, the oldest of her siblings. His red crimson hair overshadowing his eyes was easily recognizable. He was wearing a cyan green shirt and white shorts. He was a somewhat shy boy, but incredibly kind nonetheless.

Akashi could catch a glimpse of his brother's turquoise eyes beneath all of the red hair. The color was the same as her father, but whereas Enji's eyes were like that of a dead fish, Touya's eyes were sweet and honest.

Rei looked at him with a tranquil smile as she kept walking inside the house, Touya alongside her.

"What is it, Touya?" She asked him with a smooth tone, to which the boy looked down a little.

"Can I…" He stopped a little, before continuing. "Can I hold Akashi? Please?"

Ah, yes. Sometimes, her siblings would come and offer to hold her so her mother could rest a little.

Rei stared at him, pensive.

"Are you sure you can hold her long enough? She's somewhat heavy"

"I… I definitely can!" The child confirmed after considering his answer a little.

The reason of her mother asking that was because Touya's arms almost gave up one time when holding Akashi. It would be inconvenient if her brother dropped her to the ground by accident.

(Touya is weak.)

"Ok, my boy. However, may you have difficulty holding your baby sister, I want you to ask for my help immediately. Will you promise me that?"

Touya nodded rapidly, red hair going up and down.

"Yes, I promise" He stated, trying to sound as grown-up as he could.

Without more delay, little Akashi was handed onto her older brother's arms.

(Hot! Hot! Hot!)

His hands felt slightly course and rough through her little clothes, but it wasn't something that she couldn't manage.

Touya tried to maintain a firm posture to better withstand her sister's weigh. Akashi, with her little hands, grabbed onto the boy's shirt while resting her head against his chest.

They both stared at her mother as she went away, losing herself deep into the house.

The boy looked down at her with a little smile.

"H-Hey, Akashi. I'm your big bro. Well, you don't know that yet."

'You have no idea, big bro'

The boy spun around and walked into a certain direction.

"Dad wouldn't let us see you more often, but now we can be all together! Me, you, Natsu and Yumi. At least for a little."

Now that was a good idea. Her siblings could only see her 1 at a time, but all of them being together, just like that… It seemed like Christmas came early this year.

Taking a few turns, and after sliding some doors, the boy finally came to a specific room of the house.

The little girl turned her head a little, to see the room.

In it there were 3 medium-sized futons, on the left side of the room. Scattered around the floor were the toys they played with daily. There was also a big box, in which the aforementioned toys were supposed to be put in once they finished playing.

"Hey, Natsu, be careful. You'll break something playing like that!"

"Shaddap! I play the way I want!"

The other 2 dorks known as her siblings were there too. Natsuo was wearing a little blue shirt and long beige pants, without wearing anything on his feet. Fuyumi had a yellow shirt and a grey skirt, and her feet were equally naked.

Natsuo was playing with a ball, kicking it around recklessly. Fuyumi was getting impatient, since something could get broken in the process.

Touya smiled warmly at the display, before looking down at her.

"When you get older, we will also play like that," he assured as he stared again at his other siblings. "Natsu, Yumi. Look who I brought!"

"W-Wait a second Touya. This little runt won't calm down!" Fuyumi responded as she pinned down on the ground the small Natsuo, both of them giggling happily. "What do you want to…Show us…"

Fuyumi stopped talking as her eyes rested on the form of Akashi. Natsuo shared the same expression.

"Is that Shi-chan?" Natsuo asked with a curious tone, his eyes already sparkling with excitement.

"Hmm!" Touya nodded, getting closer. "Mum let me hold her, so I thought it would be nice if we got all together for a while"

While Natsuo seemed absolutely happy to see her baby sister again, Fuyumi looked somewhat insecure.

"Well, it is pretty nice to see Akashi, and that we can all be together like this but…" The 2 of them stared at her. Natsuo looked a bit puzzled, and Touya's eyes were still shadowed by his red bangs.

"Dad said we could only see her 1 at a time, and… I don't know, is really fine to do thi-"

"I know what dad said" The older sibling interrupted her, his voice hardening a little. "I… I already know what he said. It's just going to be this time that I bring her like this, and dad doesn't need to know about it"

Akashi was becoming curious. She knew Enji wouldn't allow her siblings to see her more often for whatever reason, but the way the said it… It was like they were afraid of what dad could do.

'What is dad doing that I'm not aware of…?'

The little girl spun her head as best as she could, staring at her siblings.

Fuyumi took notice of this, and got closer to Akashi, along Natsuo.

"Heeey, how's my baby sis doing?" She said in a sweet voice, changing completely her preoccupied tone from before. If Akashi was a normal baby, that small detail would've gone unnoticed. However, she still was pondering about the new information she was given.

What was her father doing that she wasn't privy of? Why were her siblings visibly afraid of him?

…Was her mother going through the same?

She needed to know.

(Desiring something won't grant it to you.)

And that was honestly true.

Her physical condition of an infant went against her intention of knowing what was actually happening. She couldn't talk, others wouldn't tell it to her directly without a reason, and investigating it herself wasn't possible.

As much as she despised it, there was no other way around than to wait. Just like always. Though, when the time came… Maybe she would know?

'No, no!' She slapped herself mentally. 'I'm supposed to have fun my siblings, not ponder about these things'

Akashi twisted her own face a little, mustering enough willpower to smile at her older sister in front of her. The muscles of her face felt like melted butter. She wasn't so sure if she was actually smiling or pouting, though…

Fuyumi's eyes started shining at the innocent display, and began cuddling her even more.

"Awwww. Look at that chubby smile of yours" She said, making Touya snicker a little. "I hope that, when you grow up, you won't as much of a trouble maker as Natsu"

"Hey!" Said boy caught that remark, though he was slightly chuckling too. "I'm not a troublemaker, yer just boring"

Fuyumi gave him a dark smirk for a moment, which made Natsuo tremble a little, before turning back to Akashi with her usual smile. Fuyumi's fingers caressed her face gently, making her shiver a little.

"Hey, I know something that will make Akashi entertain herself," Touya declared, before handling out Akashi to Fuyumi. She accepted her baby sister in her arms, before looking at Touya with a curious expression.

"What do you have in mind?" She asked with curiosity, not entirely what her brother wanted to do.

"Hehe, well, I thought it would be nice if I showed Akashi that" He responded, recognition falling down on Fuyumi's face.

"Are you talking about…"

Touya made a confident smirk while giving a friendly thumbs up.

"I've been practicing with my Quirk for a while. I think I can show off a little," He continued while extending his opened right palm, while his left hand held onto his right wrist.

Akashi perked up. This was the first time someone showed her a real Quirk. She really wanted to see how these things actually worked.

Natsuo and Fuyumi stared at each other, before looking at him again.

"I mean, we know your Quirk is awesome and that you have good control over it, but isn't it dangerous? Last time you really burned yourself by accident…"

"Aye, Yumi-nee's right. Won't it hurt you bro?" Natsuo added, sharing his sister's worry.

Touya's smile faltered for second at his siblings' preoccupation, before shaking his head.

"No, no, I promise. I got it under control. Jeez, you two are worrying too much today."

Brushing away any doubt, Touya held his right palm high. For some seconds nothing happened. Akashi still was a bit confused with all of this, but Fuyumi and Natsuo seemed to be pretty calm.

In the next moments, the air around Touya's hand began to shift weirdly. At first it wasn't too obvious, but as time passed the phenomenon began to make itself known. From the boy's skin started coming out something akin to smoke, which had a bluish tint on it.

Akashi stared intently, until-

BOOM

-An incredible column of fire erupted from Touya's hand. Real fire, swirling around from a side to another. It was big enough to cover Touya's face, and cast a shadow upon the other children.

Not only that… It was blue in color, too. A deep azure-colored flame whose heat could be felt everywhere in the room.

Akashi stared at it, impressed and mesmerized by such incredible sight.

But… It wasn't just the flames. It was the context of this situation that really made her brain hurt.

A little kid was capable of creating flames from his hand like nothing. Even more, said flames seemed to pose no threat to him, like normal fire was supposed to do.

"Woow," Natsuo said, astonished by the display of power his elder brother gave.

Fuyumi made a proud smile at the prowess of her sibling, too.

"You seem to be getting better at it, Touya."

The blue fames subsided little by little, allowing the children to see Touya's face. The previously enormous column of flamed was reduced to a normal-sized fire.

He had a satisfied smile, though his face was sweating a little.

"S-See? I told you I could do it," Touya declared proudly, though he was breathing somewhat heavily.

Akashi couldn't still quite believe that something like this was real…

…And that fire. Its color, the heat it produced, the amount, the way it swirled around…

'It's so pretty…'

The girl subconsciously extended her chubby hand, reaching out for the flames.

She needed to know if the thing in front of her was real. The only way to do that was…

"Hey, hey, just seeing Akashi. No touching."

The fire got out of her reach as Fuyumi took a step back.

Akashi turned her head and looked at Fuyumi with scrunched eyes and a pouting face, clearly annoyed at her sister's interference.

"No pouting, young girl. This is for your own good" She said, though she didn't sound angry. And there was also a smile on her face.

They stared at each other for a very short while, before the little girl relaxed her features, completely forgetting her annoyance.

'I can't get angry if you smile like that, Yumi-nee…'

Woosh

Their attention was drawn to Touya again. The blue flames from before were put out from a moment to another, leaving the boy's hand relatively unscathed.

"Uff, this always takes a lot of me" He said more than himself than to the others. "But, I suppose I did good, right…?"

"Hahaha, it was awesome bro!"

"You work pretty hard. It's obvious you can do something like that."

Clap clap clap

Natsuo started clapping happily at Touya's ability. The older brother took notice of this, and after wiping the sweat from his forehead, he did a dramatic bow that took a good hearted laugh out of the children.

Fuyumi smiled, but couldn't clap as she was still holding a baby.

Akashi became aware of it, and an idea came to her mind.

'Big bro Touya deserves more than that…'

Akashi brought her chubby, snow white hands together. One time. And again…

Clap clap clap

Natsuo, Fuyumi, and Touya's attention got caught by the sound of a low, disordered clapping. 3 pair of curious eyes fell down on the form of a baby girl smacking her hands together at a somewhat rapid pace.

Surprised faces turned into warm smiles, and slight snickers.

"She learns pretty fast for a 5-month old" Touya remarked, crossing his arms. "I wouldn't be surprised if she turns out to be a genius"

"Or maybe that's just a normal reaction for babies?" Fuyumi said with a smirk, making Touya blush a little. "I think you're stretching it a little too far by calling her a genius already"

"H-Hey, being a genius is a possibility for Akashi. You won't know until she grows up"

"And what do you want to bet?" Fuyumi continued, making Akashi perk up a little. Were they really going to make a bet without her consent?

"I…" Touya looked like he was about to surrender and take his words back, but he wasn't backing down that easily. "If she's capable of pronouncing mum's name, dad's name, yours, Natsuo's and mine before she's 1-year an half old, I'll do anything you say."

Fuyumi had the smuggest look on her face, if Akashi was seeing right.

"That's a pretty risky bet, Touya," she acknowledged. "And what do you get if I, by a miraculous margin, lose?"

"If I win…" The red-haired boy placed a hand under his chin, before his face illuminated with a new idea.

"Hehehe, If I win…"

Fuyumi waited expectantly the answer, while Natsuo watched silently the entire exchange.

"…You have to style your hair like dad's"

"…!"

The ambient had gotten hellishly colder seconds after those words were uttered. Fuyumi seemed a little shaken, but the smile was still on her face. Touya had a smug look of his own, and crossed arms in a defying manner. Natsuo was the one with a truly surprised face. You could almost see the sparks flying between them, with an air of competition to back it up.

"You're on, Touya. I expect you to hold your end of the deal"

"I can say the same for you, Yumi"

Even though it looked the opposite, there was no animosity between them. It was just a childish game they were playing, with no foul intentions present.

So… They just basically made a bet, without her consent, which did involve her in…

…Now they were on for a rough trip…

"Waah… Aaah…"

Akashi tried to force her vocal chords to work properly, despite her incredibly short age. What it first started as a childish wailing slowly became a rough effort on pronouncing specific syllables of a name the girl perfectly knew.

The easiest name to pronounce was of the person she was more attached with, so she wouldn't have much problem.

"Wuah… We…"

"Hmm? What's wrong Akashi?" Fuyumi asked while looking down, thing that caught Touya's attention.

"Ma… Mama… Wei…"

"HEH?!"

A unison gasp of surprise came from the 3 siblings at the same time.

An enormous smile came to Touya's face, while she got closer to Akashi in a crouched position.

"S-Say that again, Akashi" He said with an enthusiastic tone, while Fuyumi took a step back with a face of disbelief.

"Don't be ridiculous Touya. There's no way she said mom's name!"

Oh, you wish she didn't.

"We…Wei…"

"Hahahahahaha!" Touya laughed in an uproar, clenching his sides in the process. "Oh man, I'm so winning this bet, thanks to my genius sister."

Fuyumi had an intense blush on her face, all while looking at Akashi like she just betrayed her.

"You sure are a fast learner, Akashi," Fuyumi said with clenched teeth and a dark smile, though Akashi didn't mind.

"Waah… Wooh…"

She extended her hands towards Touya, intelligible wailing coming out from her mouth as she did so, which she didn't do on purpose. The boy in question stared at her in surprise, and then looked back at Fuyumi.

"Hehe, I think she wants to go back with me" He said while slowly caressing the arm he used the blue flames with.

Completely forgetting about the bet they did a moment ago, Fuyumi replied. "That wouldn't be the best option. I can see the skin on your arm is slightly red"

Now that Akashi actually paid attention, Touya's arm had a pretty dull mark. A burn mark. It wasn't very noticeable or life-endangering, but it was still there.

So that fire wasn't that safe to use…

"It's fine, I've dealt with worse," he reassured before picking up Akashi again from Fuyumi's arms. The little girl got comfortable, even though his arms felt undoubtedly hot and were burning her a little.

Creak

The recognizable sound of the wood creaking thanks to the door being opened resounded throughout the room.

Color drained from the children's faces, except Akashi, as they all slowly and very carefully looked at the person behind.

It was their mother. The image of her made them calm down pretty quickly.

She eyed inside the room, her sight going from Natsuo, to Fuyumi, to finally fall on Akashi in Touya's arms.

"…Touya," she called softly, though her face was mostly inexpressive.

"Mom… I… I can explain…"

The woman raised a hand to stop him from talking, before coming closer herself to him. She also gave a look to Natsuo and Fuyumi, silently signaling them to come closer to her.

Rei placed her knees on the ground, her eyes being at the same level as Touya's head.

"Son… I allowed you to hold Akashi, because I thought you wanted to be alone with her," she said, making Touya flinch slightly. "…At least you should've told me you were going to do something like this…"

Again with this? What was the reason they weren't allowed to see Akashi all at a time? Even mother was reprimanding Touya for that.

Natsuo and Fuyumi stared at Touya in surprise, understanding to a certain degree what was happening.

"…Not fair…"

A low voice came from him, which attracted the attention his mother.

"What did you say, Touya?"

"It's not fair" He responded quickly, raising his head. "I don't want to leave my baby sister alone just because of dad's stupid rules. I want her to play with all of us, together!"

A surprised expression befell on Natsuo, Fuyumi and Rei alike. Touya ended up sharing the same expression after he realized what he said, and with what person he was talking with. Akashi watched the exchange with curiosity and a certain feeling of frustration from not knowing what was the actual problem being discussed here.

"Touya…" The mother said softly. She raised a hand, and put it atop Touya's red hair. He didn't seem to mind the gesture.

"I know how much you love your sister. All of you. And nothing makes me happier than to see all my children so united… But still, you have to follow your father's rules. He isn't the most… Sensitive, about others' problems and difficulties. The last thing we should strive to do is make him angry."

All of their faces looked at her with a mixture of understanding and… Sadness?

Rei let out a sigh, before a motherly smile formed on her face.

"You're not in trouble, but it's time for Akashi to sleep. I will try to convince your father to let you see her more often and in greater numbers, but please don't do something rash like this again," she reassured, gently taking Akashi from Touya's arms. He didn't really fight back or anything.

"Will you promise me that? Will you promise me to be good children, and let mommy fix the problem?"

They all nodded at the same time, but didn't dare to make a sound.

"Good, that's good. Now, go to sleep you 3. And clear your room before doing so, please."

With a last "Okay, mum" they all started collecting their toys, readying themselves to sleep.

Rei gave them a last look, before exiting the room and closing the door. The sound of little footsteps going here and there could be heard behind the aforementioned door, which made the woman know that they were actually cleaning up their room.

She rested her grey eyes on Akashi. Akashi stared back at her.

"Sorry for putting you in this kind of situation, even if you're not aware of it," Rei apologized in the same gentle tone she always used. "I'll… Try to think of a solution, in time. Your father isn't a very good listener either way…"

Her mother didn't talk again as she walked through the house's corridors. She didn't talk while entering on Akashi's room. She didn't talk as Akashi was placed on her crib again. She didn't talk as she left her daughter alone on the room.

The situation had ended relatively quickly. The girl was still trying to process what had just happened, searching for a plausible answer, and yet managing to get none. Her logical reasoning was hindered by her body's weak constitution, and the anxiety that lingered within her.

Was this her fault? Was she just a victim of something worse that she didn't have control over? Was her mother hiding something? Was her father the one to blame?

Her siblings couldn't be at fault at all. They just wanted to share moments with her. The bet they made wasn't something bad. After all, it was just a little game they were playing. There was no real conflict, no hate or despise. They were all children, and this was normal, healthy behavior they were performing

'…But, why I am thinking so hard about something so simple?'

The question lingered in her head for a while. And of course, it wasn't hard to know why.

It downed upon her, that she was mostly alone. Yes, her mother came to comfort her. Yes, her siblings came to see her. But…

…Those encounters were short at best. It was like a higher being was playing with her, saying 'You don't deserve happiness, or a loving family. I'll take those away from you as soon as you start loving them back'.

She was still trying to reassure herself that she was a child. Her body was of a child, but her mind wasn't. Her soul neither, if she had one.

She was sinner, a dead person who was sent to hell, and then back to a twisted version of the world of the living. A place where people could manipulate fire like it was an everyday thing, and had weird colored hair naturally.

The real question was… Did she deserve to live again? Did she deserve a nice house, and share precious moments with a relatively nice family? Was she worthy to play childish games with innocent kids, even though she didn't actually deserve it?

(YouDoYouDoYouDoYouDo)

No, of course she didn't.

It always came to this kind of thing. Every time she actually started to enjoy her new life, the inevitable sense of wrongness and fear enveloped her mind and being. The feeling that, when she accepted this life as her own, the world would actually eat her for being selfish.

Her father not letting her interact with her family was proof of that.

It didn't matter what she did, she always ended up with this dilemma, flying around her brain like flies do around the thrash.

…But…

The way her siblings smiled at her, like she was actually a part of their family. The way her mother took care of her, always protecting her.

…Touya, who actually raised his voice against her mother so that she could stay with them…

…Her mother, who promised to fix whatever problem she had with father…

Even now, after months of doing nothing more thank to think about her situation, she still couldn't reach a conclusion.

Worst of all was, she always said to herself: 'Do I want to reach a conclusion?'

Because, even though her mother wasn't her real mother… Even though her siblings weren't her real siblings…

…She still loved them to hell and back, and wouldn't even think of harming them under any concept. This new life was gift, and she didn't want to ruin said gift.

Maybe she did too much thinking for one day. A good rest would ease her a little.

- BHA-

Baths were one of Akashi's favorite things, every once in a while.

Her mother was washing her in the bathtub, which was filled with just enough water so that she didn't drown in it.

Akashi liked baths a lot. Having water all around her felt… Pretty nice. It was as if all the liquid in the bathtub was an extension of her body, moving smoothly and without resistance along her. It was a weird and ambiguous sentiment, but a good one nonetheless.

Besides, the... The... Soap. That's how it's called. Rei was using a soap with a very sweet scent, which pleased greatly her underdeveloped senses.

How come she had forgotten about something so simple as a soap? Well, it's not like it affected her in the long run.

Though, something was getting uncomfortable…

…This water was too hot. Like, way too hot. She felt like melting into a fine puddle of baby flesh if she stayed there any longer.

"Waah…"

"Hmmm? What's wrong Akashi?" The woman said while raising her soap-covered hands from the bathtub. "Is something bothering you?"

The little girl looked down at the water she was in, staring between it and her mother with heavy eyes. It was greatly frustrating not being able to talk fluently. The lack of communication was greatly annoying.

Rei's face had a slight hint of amusement and understanding. So she understood a message as vague as that?

"Oh, I think the water's too hot" She said more than herself than anything. "I'll fix that in a moment, Akashi."

Rei submerged one hand underwater, and she stayed still for a few seconds. Akashi remained as she was, hot water threatening to (not quite literally) burn her until nothing but a meaty smear of soft flesh reimained.

TSSssss

Steam started to come out of bathtub, around from where Rei's hand touched the water. The air in the bathroom became heavier than before. It made the atmosphere a little unbearable, and Akashi coughed a little for the heaviness of the oxygen.

But… The water was cooling down rather quickly. As if the inmense heat that permeated the water was shying away from Rei in an attemp to preserve itself in the liquid substance, to avail of course.

Was this supposed to be mother's Quirk? Akashi had never seen her using it before…

"There, I think that will do." With the problem of the hot water solved, Rei kept fulfilling her task of bathing her daughter.

She spent a little less than half an hour washing her daughter, some times playing a little with the water to distract herself. Akashi relaxed and allowed her mother to fulfill her task without any hindrances. When she finished, Rei took Akashi out of the bathtub and wrapped a big towel around the little girl.

"Your older siblings would always fuss around when they had to take a bath, and sometimes they would scream. You're the only one who actually seems to enjoy it" She remarked with a slight tone of satisfaction in her voice, which made Akashi feel a little prideful on being the 'well-behaved' one at a young age.

Before exiting the bathroom, Akashi managed to take a glance at one mirror that was placed there.

For months, she was highly unaware on her actual appearance, so this was an opportunity to gaze at her own form.

Her skin was shockingly white, with some areas standing out as a weak shade of pink. The short mop of hair still growing on her head shared the same color of her skin, that of a pure white which wasn't quite normal in a human. At least for Akashi. These traits she inherited from her mother would have turned some heads around, if it wasn't for the fact that this world wasn't what she had expected it to be.

Her eyes, though... Her eyes were of a brilliant turquoise light, deep and somewhat unique. Just like her father's.

'…I suppose I can live with it…' Akashi thought to herself, trying to find the good side of having something that connected her to her progenitor. 'It's not like he's an ugly monster from hell. At worst he's just an absent father, I think…'

Rei got out of the bathroom, and into Akashi's room. After spending other ten minutes changing her baby, she got out again and walked with direction to the house's living room.

The living room was rather nice. There was a single low table in middle of the tatami-covered room. In front of said table was a… Smart TV? That's how it's called, maybe. Her memories were still foggy about some random things.

Rei sat on her knees in one of the table's sides, still holding Akashi on her arms. After a few seconds of doing nothing, she took the remote control which was atop the table, and turned on the TV.

She clicked rapidly, changing the images that appeared on the screen, not really bothering to look even a few seconds at any of them. Akashi stared with curiosity at the colorful pictures appearing on the TV at high speed, trying to register as much information as she could.

"Ah… There's nothing really interesting today…"

The clicking sound of the remote control continued for some seconds, until Rei stopped in a certain channel that seemed to catch her attention.

It looked like a city. Or at least what remained of it. There were houses and buildings turned into ruble, fire everywhere, and people screaming and crying in despair. Multitude of people pushed each other to the sides to make space, and escape from whatever was causing destruction nearby.

A well-dressed man with a microphone on his hand appeared on the screen, sweating and with a look of fear in his eyes. A reporter? Maybe that was the case.

He was staring attently behind the multitude of people, where the principal cause of the destruction was supposed to be.

-…I-I can't believe my eyes. This villain has already defeated 10 pro-Heroes like nothing! They only managed to stall him, but nothing seems to affect him in the slightest. A great part of Koruzant Ward has been destroyed, and the next group of Heroes hasn't arrived yet…!-

Villain? Heroes? Was that supposed to be a children's show?

No… The reporter looked dead-serious, and the destruction wasn't part of any special effect. The people in there were genuinely desperate to get out. They were not acting.

But what was all this Hero and Villain business…?

BTOOOOM

Rei almost jumped at the sound of buildings being destroyed in the program. The reporter stopped talking and ran with all he had to safer place, while the cameraman tried to get a better footage of what was happening.

BAM

The reporter stopped in the middle of an urban open street, while people around him were still trying to escape.

-…The smoke is incredibly thick, but I… There it is! There's a clear image of the Villain!-

The camera rotated where the reporter was pointing. A great cloud of smoke and dust made it a little hard to distinguish any form, but it got clearer little by little. A dark and imposing figure appeared

It looked like a man. A gigantic man, significantly taller than Akashi's father and much more robust. The only thing he wore were some ragged red clothes that were supposed to serve as pants. He had no hair, and instead of normal skin, it seemed like he had some kind of reptile-like scales of a grey color covering his torso and head. His facial features were somewhat hard to distinguish, but one could see he was smiling cockily.

He was incredibly bulky, and 'sturdy' wasn't enough to describe its appearance.

-C'mon Heroes! I want a real challenge! Or there's no one stronger than me, Behemoth?!-

That man, whose name was 'Behemoth', challenged at the top of his lungs. He was laughing loudly, his own hard voice managing to overpower the cries of the people. The reporter had enough courage to stand his ground and keep commenting the scene, while the cameraman got a clear image of what was happening.

"Those Villains seem to get more chaotic as time passes…" Rei commented with tranquility, though there was a hint of nervousness that Akashi could notice.

The girl kept staring with genuine interest at the scene.

-All ya Heroes prattlin' on and on 'bout imparting Justice and Peace, but that's only when they have the power to do so. In the end, the only thing that matters…-

The Villain raised a fist high in the air…

-…Is power!-

…And brought it down with blinding speed and immense power.

BOOOOM

The ground cracked and a wave of dust and pieces of concrete flew in all directions, crashing into nearby buildings. The reporter from before was sent flying. The image on the screen started shaking violently, which meant the punch was so strong it ended up causing a slight tremor in the area.

'This is horrible... I knew people weren't normal in this world, but… This is absolutely ridiculous' Akashi remarked within her thoughts, a lump caught in her throat from the events unfolding before her eyes.

She had never seen such display of power, besides Touya's blue fire. And even his brother hadn't caused the amount of destruction this Behemoth guy did, who destroyed a street with a single charged punch.

…So this was what a Quirk could really do...?

The dust cloud began clearing again, showing a massive crater in the ground. Behemoth was still there, smiling evilly.

Behemoth began looking around, and his gaze fell directly into the cameraman who was still there.

His smile widened in a disturbing manner.

Not only that…

…Akashi could feel his eyes looking at her through the screen. She knew he couldn't reach her, but… It was suffocating. It's like a weigh was constricting her.

This man was genuinely evil. That much she could tell.

(Don't throw the word evil around when you don't even know what it is)

-Hey, the little guy there. The one with the camera. C'mere, I want to… Have a little chat with you-

It was a lie. A pretty blatant lie. She knew Behemoth would only kill the poor guy, who was still filming the situation, out of pure sadism. His smile gave away his obvious intentions.

How can someone like that monster get away with all the chaos he's causing?

She wanted to say "run!", but her still developing vocal cords refused to function properly.

"Waah…!"

Akashi squirmed on her mother's arms, surprising her at the sudden movement.

"C-Calm down, Akashi. The bad guy won't hurt anyone else, I'm sure of it." Though her voice tried to sound as calm and secure as possible, it was obvious Rei didn't believe that statement herself.

Behemoth slowly closed distances with heavy and accentuated steps. The cameraman was so scared he couldn't run, or even scream.

There was really no one who could put up a fight against him? This was stupid!

-HAHAHAHAHAHA!-

A loud, uproarious laugh resounded throughout the street where Behemoth was, and out of the speakers of the TV. It was a good-hearted laugh.

Behemoth's expression changed rapidly into one of annoyance as he looked around, trying the spot the source of that laugh. The cameraman started standing up shakily, before a shadow high in the sky caught his attention.

Pointing his camera at the sky, everyone could see it.

-Do not fear, good citizens! Why, you ask…?-

The Villain's previously cocky face immediately twisted into one of… Fear. One could almost hear the excitement coming out of the cameraman's voice as the image focused enough.

A multicolored, bulky object came falling from the skies with unparalleled speed.

And, before the object's punch connected with the Villain, Akashi heard it.

-BECAUSE I AM HERE!-

Something akin to the sound of thunder was the only thing everyone could hear before the entire street was covered in another cloud of dust, much bigger than the one before. The ground cracked in a violent manner, much worse than what Behemoth did with a punch. The small buildings that were on the verge of breaking finally fell down thanks to the force of the impact, causing an unsightly mess.

Akashi stared in awe at the events unfolding, while her mother watched with silent acceptance.

In front of the camera appeared the reporter again, his suit made a mess.

-The Villain's previous attack sent me flying back. It seems that a new Hero has appeared to confront the Villain! We can't tell for sure who won right now, but…-

The thick cloud of dust slowly cleared itself.

A big shadow started emerging from the humongous crater formed on the ground. At first, the reporter looked pretty nervous since he thought it was Behemoth. As the figure kept walking forward, one could distinguish specific characteristics of said person. Characteristics that, fortunately, didn't belong to Behemoth.

-I knew I heard that voice before! And that's the strength only one Hero in Japan has…-

Akashi's eyes became bigger as that Hero appeared in all his glory, reaction that the reporter seemed to share.

A vibrant suit of red, blue, white and yellow colors. Incredible muscles that only could belong to a person who has trained his body to the upmost limits. Combed back blonde hair, with 2 big strands standing up in a 'V' form. Obscured eyes…

…And a giant smile that induced hapiness the longer you saw it.

-As I suspected! It's the No. 1 Hero in all of his glory, who went out of his way just to save us, All Might!-

The civilians who were previously trying to escape now were conglomerating around this person, 'All Might', chanting him on his successful victory. Akashi was incredibly surprised, not only by the display of strength or his appearance, but by the crowd's reaction.

They looked so… Happy. And excited, at that.

This was the first time she saw a 'Hero', and a 'Villain'… Even though she wasn't so sure what was their purpose, or what they were supposed to be...

…It was…

…Absolutely awesome.

"Aaah… Wooh…"

Akashi extended her hands towards the screen in a subconscious movement, while a smile formed on her face. Her mother got surprised a little at her reaction, before chuckling slightly and patting her head.

"Haha, you seem very smart Akashi. When the bad guy wins, you get in a bad mood. When the good guy wins, you smile." Rei remarked with satisfaction.

Of course, Akashi wasn't that eager to hide her real intelligence. Besides, this All Might guy had gotten her pretty excited. Why would she hold back her feelings?

Though, the celebration wouldn't continue much longer…

"Turn that off immediately."

A deep, masculine voice was heard loud and clear on the living room.

Both Rei and Akashi turned around to spot the owner of that voice. Rei did it very stiffly, as if she was nervous to look at that person, reaction which didn't go unnoticed for Akashi herself.

It was a muscular man, about 30 years or older. He was wearing a black short-sleeved shirt and brown, baggy pants held by a belt. He had spiky, short crimson hair and turquoise eyes.

He also had a swirling beard made of fire, along with a moustache.

"D-Dear, I see you've come from work early. I didn't even notice," She greeted her husband with a smile, but his expression hardened.

"Are you deaf, woman? Turn the TV off right now. I'm tired, and the last thing I want is to see him."

Rei looked behind her, at the screen of the TV with All Might smiling widely in it. She understood quickly, and turned off the device with a click of the remote control.

Enji walked towards the table, and stared at it for some seconds before locking his eyes with Rei's.

"Haven't you made anything to eat?" He simply said, though his tone of voice was still unpleasant.

"I made Kuzumochi for you… I know it's not the best thing to eat after work, but since it's your favorite food…"

Enji scoffed before she could finish, giving her another look.

"I-It's in the kitchen. I saved it for you, since I thought you would spend more time on your job…"

He didn't really respond back, and went on his way to the kitchen. During the time in which he was out of the living room, Akashi could hear low whispers coming out of her mother's mouth, as if she was talking to herself while she could.

Interactions between Enji and Rei were normally 'cold', but… This time was slightly different. In a bad way.

Father returned after some minutes with a plate of Kuzumochi and a glass of water, along with a present scowl on his face. He sat across Rei, and without uttering a word he started to eat. The atmosphere was admittedly heavy, thing that seemed to do no good to her mother.

"Oh, I remembered… I wanted to talk you about something…"

He didn't reply. He wasn't even looking at her.

"…It's about Akashi. I… Thought it would be a nice idea if she spent more time with her siblings. All her siblings. I think she would like it, too"

The man raised his head slowly, staring at her with serious eyes. Enji didn't respond right away, and instead opted to finish munching what he already had on his mouth. He took a big gulp of his glass of water, and finally decided to talk.

"No. We already talked about this. Until Akashi's Quirk manifests, I won't allow her to bond with her siblings. If she happens to have a good Quirk, she will need to focus wholly and solely on her training and not in the 'others'. Her siblings will only serve as a distraction."

The atmosphere became even heavier, and Akashi could feel her mother's heartbeats accelerating and slowing frantically.

The little girl tried to ignore those heartbeats, and dug herself on her thoughts.

'So that's reason he won't let me play with them…?' She reasoned, a sense of frustration rising up on her body. 'That's… A stupid reason. I don't understand… What does my Quirk have to do with me playing with Touya, Natsuo and Fuyumi? And how does he know I would have a Quirk at all?'

Racking her head up for answers didn't work in the slightest.

"Are…" Rei talked again, almost cutting her own speech mid-sentence. "Are you sure we can't let her play with them every once in a while?"

Her voice sounded shaky, but still determined to make the message come across.

Enji raised his eyes again, but the look he had…

…It was scary. One could even see veins popping up on his forehead.

"Didn't you understand a word of what I just said? Or do you really want to make my efforts to be in vain?"

"No, no! I just thought the children were…"

"Sad? Bored? Either way, I couldn't care less about those defects. Touya could've fulfilled my ambitions, but his weak body overpowers his innate power. Such a waste…"

"I…" she still continued, trying to make him change his mind.

"If you want to worry less about your sons and daughters, then pray that Akashi has the Quirk needed to surpass me. That's the whole reason I even bothered to marry you, and have children at all"

Nobody said anything after that line was delivered. Enji inevitably ate all of his plate, and got up without uttering a word. Akashi and Rei were left alone in the living room, with later caressing gently her daughter's head.

Surpass him? His father was a complete mess… And how could that be a reason to marry someone?

And the way he talked to her mother…

Drop

Akashi felt a small weight fall on her little head. Something humid.

She stared above, at Rei's face…

'Mother…?'

She was crying.

It was a silent cry. She wasn't sobbing, or any sound at all. But tears still fell from her eyes and across her cheeks. Her face was slightly red, and her heartbeat was rising and slowing without a clear rhythm.

(WEakweAKWEAkweak)

Akashi had never seen her mother cry before. And all because her father spoke badly to her…

…No, there had to be something more. Something that was making her mother and siblings sad. But what, exactly?

If she knew what the problem was, she could…

…She couldn't do anything.

(Yet.)

Akashi was small and weak. What could a piece of meat like her do? Wail? Scream?

She was powerless against something that surpassed her. And she fucking hated it.

Of course it wouldn't be that easy. It was the whole reason she was here in the first place. She was too powerless to stop her own death, and now she was too powerless to help the woman that was supposed to be her mother.

She wasn't so sure what happened later on. Maybe her mother stayed there for some time, or maybe she left Akashi on her crib and went on her way to keep crying in silence. It didn't matter what Rei did, thought. It's not like it bothered Akashi in the slightest.

Akashi still tried to focus on what was in front of her, the new life she was given, and what she could do to make it better. Not now, but… Maybe in the future, where she wasn't so damn powerless.

(There's no future.)

She still wished the flies weren't so loud.

And finish.

I don't really want to spoil the fun too much, but I do want to make clear some things before I go.

As you can probably tell, the prologue of this story will consist in many chapters (around 8 or so). After that, the story will catch up to the canon, and I'll keep expanding it from there. I'll obviously stray from it to fully flesh my ideas when I need to.

I already thought of Akashi's Quirk, so if you're thinking on suggesting Quirk ideas, don't do it. I won't be needing any of them. Her Quirk is somewhat 'unique', meaning she's slightly different from her siblings. Hope it's to your liking when it's revealed.

Shouto will appear on the story, but he hasn't been born yet.

Yeah, I know I'm assuming too much with Touya using 'blue fire'. I'll just go along with it.

Deku will have OFA. Obvious thing, but neccesary to clear before anyone comes wanting to see 'Quirkless Deku' or 'Villain Deku'. Sorry for that, people.

For the love of All Might, don't suggest pairings. There are more important and interesting things to touch upon than just romance. I'll get to that when I get to that. Hope you understand.

Further doubts will be cleared in later chapters. Please, review if you can. Point out any mistake or thing that caught your attention about this chapter. It gives me insight to make the story better. Constructive criticism is appreciated, and if it's legible and well written, better. I always read my reader's reviews, so I take everything into account.

And don't ask for updates. Please. I need to take my time to write these things as best as possible.

Hope you enjoyed. Peace.
