A/N: So I watched Highlander with my family a while ago and could not go to sleep until I wrote this out. Then, of course, it was promptly lost in My Documents folder until this week and I thought I'd post it- just so everyone knows I'm not dead. (And I'm really sorry to thosewho have reviewed my previous stories and got no reply- I haven't forgotten you, I'm just having procrastination issues.) Please read and relax guys!
I didn't realize it at first, not until after, when daddy took me home and after mommy cried for awhile. That's when I realized it. He was a Farie.
There were a lot of bad men in the hall where Daddy worked, in the hall and lots of other places. My dolly told me they were bad- she wouldn't let tell them we were hiding. It's a good thing too because later he told us that they were bad men. He was really tall, much taller than daddy and he looked sort of lost. He was hurt but he said that it was just a cut. When I get a cut it hurts, but I maybe it might be different for him. At first I didn't want him around, I don't like it when people watch me when I'm playing, but there where bad men around and… well I really had to go the bathroom. I asked politely just like daddy said to. He was nice and let me go all by myself because I told him that I was a big girl and not a baby, but afterwards he made me hide in the wall because he said that there would be a big noise and that I'd be safer in the wall. I stayed until he let me down, but I didn't hear a big noise. He said he was mis-mistaken and then he asked me to take him to another hiding place. He's lucky that he found me because I know lots of good hiding places, my daddy runs the building but I know more hiding places. I showed him the one the nice judge showed me- the secret way the judge gets home without anyone seeing him. He wanted me to hide again, hide in a closet but I was tired of hiding and I liked my daddy's closet better anyway, but I said that I would hide if he told me a story, a fairy story. He said that once, a long time ago there were a whole bunch of Faries that all lived in Farie-City with white walls and high towers. When I asked he said that Faries look just like you or me except that they don't age and live for a very long time. But he also said that more and more people came till the Faires had to leave there beautiful white city and go into the hills and forests and old places till even those were filled up and they had to leave again. I thought that this was a very sad story and it made me want to cry. But I'm a big girl now and hardly ever cry anymore so I asked where they went instead. He said that they were all around us and that there job was to protect the little girls like me. I wasn't sure whether to believe him or not so I asked if he had ever met any of them, he smiled kind of funny and said he'd met lots. That was when he went away for a while and I stayed hidden a quiet just like I promised, and I did hear some loud noises and still stayed hidden. It was a good thing too because there were bad men, lots, or maybe just one, but they were all gone when the tall man and the pretty lady brought me back to my daddy.
I didn't realize it then. Not until Daddy helped the tall man and the pretty lady get out of the building without talking to all the loud people. Not until Daddy took me home and mommy cried a lot. Not until I was in my bed talking to my dolly. That's when I realized it: he was a Farie and he would always protect little girls like me.
That's it! Sorry about the long jumbled paragraph, but she rambled and I could not justify my desire to break up her speech. Well, leave a note if you like, and if you don't, well then thanks for reading! - Delia Ra'Nar
