A/N: I don't own HP. Sadly. A little fic about Ron's insecurities. (In this R/Hr are together already so some of my own interpretation in there)
When Hermione came into the common room she saw him sat there.
"Have you been sat here the whole time? I've been to Hagrid's, been to the Hospital Wing, everywhere and you've been here?"
"Erm, yeah…" said Ron weakly, pressing an ice pack to the side of his head.
"What will we do with you?" Hermione half-laughed, moving towards him, "Now what were you doing getting hit in the head with a bludger? And by McLaggen of all people?"
"He was just egging me on Hermione, irritating me, saying things like I was desperate for the place, and I was never going to get on the team compared to him. He was disrespecting you as well and it frustrated me. He just pushed me, because I so badly wanted to be on the team, I flipped and hit him. So he grabbed a beater's bat – goodness knows where he got it – and whacked the bludger at my head. He needn't have been so violent. I beat him to the spot even without his aggression."
"Why did you want to get on the team so badly? Come here let me do that." She sat down beside him and took the ice pack out of his hands, dabbing his head tenderly.
Ron looked up and locked his eyes on hers, mumbling "I wanted- I wanted to prove myself to you."
Hermione chuckled faintly.
"Why are you laughing at me?" Ron's face fell.
Hermione tilted his face up to look at hers once more and said, "Ron, you don't need to get on a Quidditch Team, or fight a dragon, or do anything dangerous to 'prove yourself'. You're perfect just as you are. And look where it got you…" she motioned to the lump on the side of his head she was applying pressure to.
"Really?"
"Really." She leaned down and kissed him briefly on the lips, "So stop your worrying and definitely don't get yourself in any more bludger battles. Besides you're fifty times the man McLaggen will ever be."
"Really?" Ron repeated.
"Really." echoed Hermione.
"I suppose I did beat him to a place on the team," Ron smiled and leaned back throwing his arm around Hermione's shoulders.
Hermione laughed again dryly and continued to press the ice pack to his head, looking at the boy who she knew would do anything for her, no matter the costs.
Hope you enjoyed. Don't forget to review! :)x
