"Hey, Molly." said John, smiling as he entered the lab with Sherlock right behind him. "Molly, I need you to identify these boot prints and the dirt on these eyeglasses, please." Sherlock said in one breath, without looking up. "Oh- sure, Sherlock." Molly stammered. John got set to work and finished rather quickly. He offered to get crisps for them and set off to the main hospital area, taking the longest route he knew. "So, Sherlock, I've got the dirt on the eyeglasses identified. And these boot prints just don't seem to-" "Molly." said Sherlock, cutting her off. "How would you feel about going for dinner tonight? Nothing fancy. Maybe just sandwiches from Speedy's. The restaurant next to my flat." Sherlock continued. "Oh yeah, sure. Right. What time exactly?" Molly said, shocked. "You get off at 6:30, right? Well then, 8:00, perhaps? Yes, 8:00 is great. Good."
At that moment, John came back in, looking shocked. He obviously hid it well because Sherlock didn't notice anything. "Got the crisps." he said. Setting one bag next to each of them. They each said their thanks and continued working.
*Later at Speedy's*
Molly was wearing dark jeans and a light pink blouse. Sherlock, his usual attire. Like a true gentleman, when Molly arrived, Sherlock stood and waited for her to sit and then sat himself. "Sherlock, there's no need to be so fancy. Now, I must ask, why did you ask me out here in the first place?" Molly asked, getting down to the point. "Well, I've wanted to ask you out to dinner for awhile now." He responded. "Since when?" Molly said uncharacteristically. "I saw you with that guy at John and Mary's wedding and…I didn't really like it." Sherlock said. "Are you hungry, Molly?" "No, not really. You?" "Not at all. Let's go."
Molly, a little shocked by his abruptness, stood up as Sherlock hailed a cab. They got in and Sherlock whispered something in the drivers ear and he nodded. They were dropped off after 10 minuets of driving around the city. From here, you could she the River Thames and all the lights of the city. It was truly gorgeous. After a while, Molly realized that Sherlock was staring at her. She looked at him and in one swift motion, he kissed her. She was deeply surprised but definitely complied. They got back in a cab and were dropped off at Molly's apartment. "I had a fantastic time tonight, Molly. I do hope we can do it again sometime." "Definitely." said Molly before kissing him again opening the door to her building. He took the cab back to Baker Street and thought about the night and how his relationship would progress with Molly. He thought about the way she put her hair behind her ear so delicately. How she walked swiftly and lightly. He deduced that by their first kiss, it was really meaningful because neither pushed it too far. This was true love at last.
