Aragorn
Dark.
He has darkness hung upon him like a cloak.
Yet there is no evil in him, this darkness is not wickedness
This ranger, this exile.
Grim and heavy are his steps
Wandering the wild had made him hardy, quiet, deep.
Like an icy spring sprung from the heart of a mountain
My wanderer
He bears a great burden; it is the reason for his weary walk
His ancestors loom over him
Watching to see if he will make the same mistakes
For he is of their blood, of their line, of their weakness
This he knows, only too well, long has he agonised over it
He does not know, he does not see the power that lies within him
But I see it. I see it in his grey eyes that flash like silver
I see it in his forehead, in his countenance, even in his weary tread
I have seen him fight, I have seen him angry.
I have seen him battle in the defence of those he loves
Provoked he is an untameable fire that rips through everything
He is awesome and terrible to his foes
My wanderer
But to his friends, his kith and kin
His love is pure and strong as the blade of a well forged sword
Unbending, un-swaying, he loves with everything he is
For those he loves he would move the earth and bleed till he was dry
Those he loves are much blessed, for they have found a companion like no other
This power he does not know he has, it grows in him day by day.
In his hands are strength, healing and wisdom
In his face, beauty, majesty and love
On the day he finally casts of the shadows that haunt him
He will be glorious, a king and ruler that his people will have never seen before
My wanderer
For now he strides the lands ceaselessly, thirst unquenchable, loyalty unassailable
For those he loves, now for those he fights.
They do not see him, they do not thank him, and they do not know him
All they see is a tall dark man, forbidding and travel-stained, seeming hopeless
But one day they will know him.
He is Estel; he is the hope of all men, in this age and all to come.
One day they will see him as I do, my wanderer
On that day, he will be whole, liberated and healed
On that day, he will be free.
My wanderer
