Author's Note: I know it's late, considering Lin left the show a few months ago, but this idea popped in my head a few days ago, and I had to write it. Also, I would like to point out that I normally don't encourage writing fanfiction about real people (at least not those currently living) but in this case, I'll make an exception. And if by some miracle Lin-Manuel Miranda and/or Phillipa Soo is reading this, I hope they like it.
This was it. The last curtain call. As Lin-Manuel Miranda looked around the stage, smiling at his fellow actors, he couldn't begin to describe how proud he was of everyone here. They'd all rallied behind this crazy idea for a show, and somehow, someway, it had worked.
Lin took one bow alone, bending so low his head came level with his knees. When he straightened, everyone came forward and formed a single line stretching across the length of the stage. He joined hands with Phillipa and Chris, waiting for everyone to reach their places. Finally, as Daveed scurried into position, everyone raised their joined hands and bowed. They gestured for the orchestra conductor to take his turn before they all bowed again.
Then, the majority of the cast stepped back as Lin, Phillipa, Leslie, and Ariana stepped forward, signaling that this was to be their last night as part of "Hamilton." The four of them bowed together, but as they straightened, Lin's breath caught in his throat, and his grip on Phillipa's hand tightened. She followed his gaze and gasped softly, but neither spoke a word, for it was clear no one else could see the two figures standing before them on the stage.
Phillipa and Lin had never met the people before them in person—obviously, since they had both lived and died around 200 years ago—but they had seen the paintings enough to recognize the couple.
Alexander had his arm around his wife's shoulders, and she had reached one hand up to clutch at his hand. Both of them were smiling at the actors who had portrayed them with such dedication, and tears ran freely down their faces.
As one, the Hamiltons bowed to Lin-Manuel Miranda and Phillipa Soo, dipping their heads. When they righted themselves, their smiles somehow grew even larger. "Thank you," they whispered. And then, before Lin and Phillipa could react, they disappeared, with no evidence that they had ever been there.
A minute later, when all the bows had been completed, as everyone was walking offstage, Phillipa embraced Lin and whispered, "You told their story!"
He could only smile at his friend and reply, "No; we all did."
Author's Note 2: Well, that was it. Just something short and sweet. I hope you guys like it!
