Dedicated to my beautiful fiancé
In a small, war ravaged village in Ishbal, outside of a small burning home, a young girl around five years old in tattered clothing, knelt beside the body of her dead mother.
"Mama, answer me, mama. I'm scared."
"You brought this upon yourselves, Ishbal scum," a state alchemist in a blue military uniform and black boots snarled at the frightened child before a cold mist began to surround the girl and the body of her dead mother. Within moments, they were frozen solid. The alchemist kicked the head off the frozen body of the girl, which shattered with blood and ice on the ground.
"Lieutenant MacDougall, what is the meaning of this?" Colonel Roy Mustang practically growled at his subordinate.
"I'm doing my job, sir." Roy can feel the sarcasm dripping off MacDougall's every word.
"By killing innocent children?"
"The Führer wanted this plague wiped from the land. All I am doing is following orders, Mustang. Besides which, your hands are no cleaner then mine." MacDougall pointed a finger in Roy's face as he spoke.
"Stow the attitude, Lieutenant, and it is Colonel Mustang to you. Is that clear, solider?"
"Crystal clear, Colonel." As he spoke, a white mist began to form around MacDougall's right hand and a blast of colder air shot out just to the left of Roy, striking an Ishbal insurgent who rushed behind Roy with a wooden plank in his hand to attack the flame alchemist.
"You're welcome." MacDougall smirked at his superior as he turned and walked away.
At that moment, First Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye walks up to Roy. "Isaac MacDougall is trouble. He should not be a state alchemist."
"That is not for you or me to say, Lieutenant, but I can't escape the feeling the flame alchemist is heading for a showdown with the ice alchemist." As Roy speaks, a hard rain started to fall from the sky, snuffing out the fires that burned throughout the village.
