Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "Trusty Rusty" from Season 7. Enjoy and comment.
Rusty repairs the mountainside railway on the Island of Sodor.
The little diesel always make sures that the tracks, tunnels and bridges are all in working order,
One day, Rusty was crossing the old wooden bridge, when he noticed a big bump on the track.
Rusty's driver stopped to check the bridge.
"The bridge is cracking!" he exclaimed.
"That could be dangerous!" cried Rusty. "It might fall down if it's not repaired!"
Rusty then set off to warn the other engines
The engines were waiting for their coal when Rusty arrived.
"Don't use the old wooden bridge." said Rusty. "It's dangerous!"
"How would you know?" wheeshed Duncan. "You're only a diesel."
Duncan then crossly puffed away, not waiting for his coal.
Rusty went down the line to tell Sir Topham Hatt the news.
"Thank you." said Sir Topham Hatt. "I'll send workmen to fix the bridge. Until it's fixed, no one shall use the bridge."
Rusty's driver put up a sign that read…
LINE CLOSED
Because of this, the engines had to travel a different way.
Meanwhile, Duncan needed more coal to get home.
But when he arrived at the coal hopper, it was empty.
"Bother! Now I won't get home with no coal! Where is the nearest hopper?"
"On the other side of the bridge." said Skarloey. "However, it's closed until further notice."
"Rusty always makes things worse than they are!"
"I'm sure one trip across the old wooden bridge won't be too bad." said his driver.
When they got to the junction, Duncan's driver removed the sign, and they set off towards the bridge.
This was a very big mistake.
Suddenly, Duncan came to a halt.
"I'm out of steam!" cried Duncan/ He had used up all his coal.
Then, a piece of the bridge collapsed.
"What was that?" he asked nervously.
His driver looked down.
The old wooden bridge was starting to collapse!
Meanwhile, Rusty came to see Skarloey.
"Duncan has gone across the bridge!" cried Rusty. "I better make sure he's alright!"
But the bridge was collapsing at a very fast rate!
"HELP!" whistled Duncan. "I'm going to fall!"
Rusty was on the way!
Soon, the little diesel reached the old wooden bridge.
Duncan was scared.
Rusty chuffed bravely across the bridge,
"Be careful!" gasped Duncan.
In no time, they were coupled up.
"Hold on!" called Rusty.
Rusty managed to pull Duncan to safety, just as the bridge collapsed!
That evening, Sir Topham Hatt arrived, crosser than ever.
"That was a very irresponsible mistake you made!" boomed Sir Topham Hatt.
"Yes sir. Sorry sir." said Duncan.
Then, he turned to Rusty.
"You were very brave!"
"Thank you!" said Rusty.
Then, Sir Topham Hatt turned to Rusty.
"Rusty, you are a really useful engine!"
"Thank you sir!" said Rusty, who felt very reliable too!
