Chase

Draco's blood was pounding in his ears, footsteps falling heavily on the cement floor. His muscles burned with the effort to keep going when all he wanted to do was sit on the sidewalk and surrender. But he knew the second he stopped moving they would be on him and then all he would feel was pain.

"We see you Malfoy," a voice shouted behind him, making his skin crawl.

He pushed himself even faster, running recklessly now. He turned right, clipping his shoulder on the edge of the last building in the lane. It stung something fierce but he didn't pay it much attention. The muddy hill before him looked more threatening. His sneakers scrambled up the muddy side. He slipped and yelped as he went down.

Please, God, don't let them be behind me, he thought. He found his footing again and surged forward, up the rest of the hill.

A figure in a black cloak stepped out from behind a tree and fired a spell at his legs. Draco jumped out of the way and roughly pushed his attacker to the ground, kicking the person in the stomach for good measure.

"We're gonna getcha!" someone else shouted from behind him and cackled. Draco shuddered and dove into the underbrush, not at all surprised that they were enjoying this.

The leg-lock curse hit him from nowhere. He screamed as he crashed to the ground, barely having time to brace himself with his hands. He began to crawl on his stomach, still trying to get away as much as possible. His pursuers were on him too fast. One of them grabbed his feet and dragged him backwards out of the foliage.

"Damn that bastard for making us run," the distinct voice of Ron Weasley growled, and he kicked at Draco's legs. The blonde winced at the impact.

"Knock it off," Potter muttered. "We need to go; we're late enough as it is."

"Should we levitate him?" Lucius Malfoy asked.

Hermione huffed and Draco could almost see her hands on her hips. "I don't see why he would deserve it."

The blonde slowly began to wiggle across the muddy ground like a worm, hoping the movement wouldn't draw the others eyes. No such luck.

"Nice try Malfoy," Harry growled and grabbed Draco's legs, dragging him across the dirt again, and down the hill. "Let's go."

Draco howled and began to claw at the ground, thrashing his legs around in a vein attempt to dislodge himself. "No, stop, oh god please, no!"

Harry sighed heavily. "For Merlin's sake Draco, it's only the dentist."

"NOOO!!"
