Chapter 1: Back Before Bedtime
On a beautiful, lightly clouded yet sunny day. Everything seemed almost normal in the bright green countryside. Morning had just broke and the inhabitants of Green Hill Village were rising to the early sun. A familiar fox exits one of the homes, taking in his surroundings. "Ah… Another beautiful day," Tails would say to himself in a blissful manner, "It's a shame he's not here, I bet Sonic would love-" His thought gets cut off when noticing a pink figure sitting against a tree at the outskirts of town. He decides to walk over to investigate, what he finds doesn't surprise him. He'd sigh, "Amy…"
"Huh?" She'd turn to face him, evidently rather sleepy. "What's up Tails?"
"Amy you've been sitting here for a week straight, can't you just-"
"NO!" She interjects, getting up onto her feet, "Sonic left without telling anyone where he went, so I am going to wait right here for him to get back and no one is stopping me!"
Tails leans back slightly with a nervous chuckle, "Eheheh…"
"Hmph," A deep voice could be heard, "What's not to say Sonic left because of you?"
"EXCUSE YOU?!" Amy shouts, turning around. "YOU WANNA SAY THAT AGAIN PUNK?!"
"Gladly." Shadow says, hopping down directly in front of her.
Amy suddenly looks a little skittish.
"Maybe, Sonic left, because of you… Did that thought ever cross your mind?"
"Sh-Shut up Shadow! You don't know anything about him!" Amy retorts defensively.
"Perhaps not, but I think I know a thing or two more than you." Shadow crosses his arms.
Amy grumbles to herself.
"Now now you two, eheh," Tails says, attempting to interject, "Let's not get into a fight here. It's a peaceful day! Let's not make it anything else?"
Shadow glares for a moment, then uses his Chaos Control to leave, but not before a profound, "Hmph!" Was heard.
Amy would sit back down as before, "Stupid Shadow, doesn't know what he's talking about…"
Tails simply walks away from the situation, "Sheesh… Sonic, we can't you just come back already? Everybody misses you." He'd say to himself.

Meanwhile, on nearly the other side of the world in Holoska.
"Whoa!" Came an outcry the echoed across the snow-covered mountains. Followed by a crash. Sonic would tumble across the ground as he'd skid to a halt. "Hehe, not bad Metal Head, the doc's got a talent."
"Sarcasm will not help you hedgehog, and neither does your super form. You will not reach the doctor as long as I stand in your way." Said the emotionless monotone voice of Metal Sonic as it approached Sonic slowly.
"Heh, is that what you think?" Sonic revs up, taking a mad dash at Metal Sonic, shoving him further and further into the air up into the stratosphere. Sonic knocks Metal back, "Let's how you like THIS!" With one forceful kick into Metal Sonic's torso, the mechanical doppel is sent flying out into space. Sonic smirked, rubbing his nose. "No big deal for me Metal, good fight though." Sonic then looks to the massive spherical station orbiting the planet. "And now for you…" Sonic flies to the station, bursting in through the plating.
ALERT! ALERT! Was blaring all over Eggman's control room as he'd run from panel to panel when Sonic busts in through the floor. "S-Sonic!"
"Sorry Egghead, there's no way out of this now. You've long since crossed the line…" Sonic says, looking sternly at the doctor.
Eggman would grovel on his knees, "Please Sonic! I don't want any trouble! I'll turn over a new leaf, I swear!"
"Now where have I heard that one before?" Sonic replies, approaching Eggman.
"Then I suppose I have no other choice…" Eggman presses a button on his wrist, and restraining beams would suddenly be emitted from the walls, trapping Sonic in the middle of the room.
"Arghh! This trick again!" Sonic struggled against the energy.
"Call it cheap but it is effective." Eggman would say, returning to his feet, "The station is now set to self destruct, and those restraints will drain away your super form longer before that. Too bad," He'd say, pressing some buttons, a wall would open up showing some silhouettes. "And you could have had that long awaited family reunion too." Eggman smirked as he then began to leave.
Sonic's eyes would widen, "Eggman… You… YOU WILL NOT LEAVE HERE ALIVE!" Sonic's rage from seeing those familiar figures, allowed him to break free, the system began to short circuit and overload, sparks and electricity would fly and buckle off the walls. Sonic grabs Eggman by his coat as he rushed by, going through bulkhead after bulkhead until finally reaching the outer wall. Sonic blasts a hole through it and glares at the doctor one last time. "For nearly taking over the world, and all the other catastrophic events that I was blind to until now, it's time to say goodbye." Sonic then punches the fearful doctor out into the vacuum of space, and turns away so he would not have to witness the gruesome result. He'd rush back and grab the two figures whom were both unconscious and rushes out of the station, flying back towards the planet. "Please make it, please make it, please make it!" He'd say to himself as the golden color would begin to flicker. Closer and closer to the ground he came as he'd think to himself, "So close, but so far… Well, if I don't make it, at least I can go out knowing I finally took care of business… All my friends will never have to fear for themselves again… Tails… Knuckles… Shadow… Amy… I'm sorry I left you, now i'll never be able to tell you the truth." He'd look to either side at the figures he's carrying, "They may not know they're with me, but at least I got to see them again." He'd think what he perceived as his final thoughts as his super form finally runs out, and his vision blurs until black as he continues to fall into the atmosphere.

Dusk had fallen on Green Hill Village, at this point, only Amy was left stirring, still under that same tree. Tails would walk up to her one last time for the day, "Amy, it's really late. You should probably go to bed now." Tails would say to little avail as she would continue to stare into the sky. Tails takes a deep sigh, "Amy, promise me at some point you'll let yourself just live a normal life. You health is clearly not benefitting from doing this to yourself." He'd pause for a moment as she'd look down from the sky, knowing he was right. "I'm more than certain Sonic would want you to live the best you could, even without him around."
Amy would nod her head, "You're right…"
"Thanks Amy." Tails says, putting his hand on her shoulder reassuringly before he'd turn and walk back home.
Amy would look back into the sky one last time before leaving for the night. She'd close her eyes and take a deep sigh, "Sonic, please, give me a sign you're still alive." She'd suddenly open her eyes and look to see a small gold streak go across the sky in the far distance. With a gasp she'd get onto her feet, "Was that…?" She'd then grow a small smile on her face as she'd turn towards home, "Alright Sonic, I still believe. You better come home." She'd say before walking towards her home with a certain bounce to her stride.
