A Darkest Powers one-shot about Tori, one of my favorite characters as of right now. This takes place during The Awakening when Chloe went into the woods with Derek, and Tori ad Simon are on the bus headed for New York City, and while based on a song (like most of my fics) I feel it also shows Tori's feelings about Chloe's 'helplessness' as she sees it.

Disclaimer: I obviously don't own The Awakening or "Everybody's Fool" as the book belongs to Kelley Armstrong, the song to Evanescence.

And if you read my other stuff, I know you're all thinking "Ugh, not another song-based one-shot!" Unless you like my epic repetitiveness.

Everybody's Fool

A Tori one-shot

Based on the song by Evanescence

Why am I always overlooked? Ignored? Because I'm not the pretty-little-blonde who puts on a helpless mask.

That's why my mother doesn't care about me. Why Simon doesn't like me. Because I can protect myself and don't pity people like Chloe-freaking-Saunders.

Like I should bow down to her. Like I should bow down to anybody... Disgusting.

She was born perfect. My only ideal perfection had come in the form of medication for so long. I didn't even have that anymore.

She was never so great, and she never will be.

And pretty soon she won't be able to hide from her powers either. Just like I can't. Like none of us can.

And when her life falls apart, I know that I can be the better person.

I won't even say 'I told you so'. Not out loud. because she doesn't deserve it. She already has everything that I want, that anyone would want.

I stared out at the night through the bus window, glad she wasn't here, that she'd gone with wolfboy.

What I wasn't glad about was that Simon was sitting right next to me, and knew that he would never look at me the way he looks at her.

He hates me. They all do.

I glanced over at Simon who had reluctantly agreed to sit in the aisle seat next to me.

"Simon...?" I asked.

"What?" he replied politely, but I could tell it was forced. He obviously didn't like me. Not like I liked him.

"Nothing..." I replied, and went back to staring out the window.

I must have fallen asleep, because the next thing I heard was Simon telling me to wake up.

"Shut up..." I mumbled, still half asleep.

"I'm sorry for waking you up at this ungodly hour of 10:00 AM, but we need to get off the bus now..."

And I already knew what he was going to say next.

"... and Chloe and Derek will probably be here soon."

"Fine..." I mumbled, getting up from my seat.

And as I got off the bus, I knew he would never use that tone with Chloe Saunders. The one who had everybody fooled. Except for me.

And soon, I thought, Chloe Saunders will be nothing more than everybody's fool.

So I wont let her try to save me.

-The End-
